Halo 4 is just around the corner! It’s so close you can smell it! Well, it’s either that or your upper lip, but still. As we approach launch, and the surrounding excitement becomes almost palpable, I want to have a little chat about the discussion of spoilers and leaks.
I’m sure most of you already know that leaks are not tolerated on Waypoint, but for those who don’t, consider yourself schooled. Going forward we will be implementing a rougher, gruffer, and harsher approach to our moderation practices to help preserve the forum-going experience of the community. We aren’t looking to be cruel or unusual, but no one wants to be spoiled. So to help you avoid the ever-growing banhammer, we have a tip for you:
- If the information is not found on Waypoint’s front page or in the blog, it may be leaked.
The above has been said before, but it doesn’t hurt to give a friendly reminder. If you want to know if something is safe to talk about on Waypoint, make sure it is on Waypoint. Other sites or blogs may carry information that is not yet intended for public consumption, and posting them in the forums would be considered a leak.
On the spoiler note, please remember to keep any and all released information regarding characters, missions, and plot in the thread body itself, and well hidden by spoiler tags. Last thing any of us want is to wander in to a section to read a thread title that says, “Whoa, Bruce Willis was dead the entire movie!” (It’s been 13 years since that movie came out, no longer a spoiler!)
These changes will being immediately.
With your help we can keep this upcoming launch as fresh as possible, spoiler and leak free! Just remember the tip from above, and use your best judgment. Should you have any questions, you’re more than welcome to PM either myself, bs angel, or one of the moderators and we will let you know if information is safe to post! Last thing we want is another campaign ending spoiled!
Thanks for the help! 25 days left…
Announcement 10/13/2012: To help enhance the overall experience for all people, we are going to implement a new rule - Do not quote posts that break our rules and guidelines.
This new rule will also be in effect immediately, and applies to not only leaked content, but spoilers, flaming, and trolling as well.
If you see someone breaking the rules, by all means report and move on. We will treat posts quoting inappropriate content as a unique post & offense, and will warn or ban accordingly.
Announcement 11.05.12 - The game is rolling out worldwide, but just because you’ve finished it, doesn’t mean that everyone else has.
To help keep Waypoint free from spoilers, we will be holding a mandatory 7-day period in which all campaign discussion MUST be hidden behind spoiler tags. If you fail to do so we will be issuing bans until the end of that 7-day period. So please, be polite, think of others, and hide your campaign discussions behind the appropriate tags! Thanks!
