[Spoiler] Didn't Lord Hood and Pangonsky escape from Earth before Cortana got there? Why is Cortana then threatening him in Infinite?

So in one of the books, Lord Hood and Pangonsky were able to escape Earth because Black Box warned them about an attack (Cortana’s) and held a Prowler for them and then wiped the location of an old ONI safe haven from all records so Cortana couldn’t find them, then took them there because he didn’t believe in Cortana’s cause along with 3 other AI (contained in chips so they couldn’t betray them) whom he thought might help them.

So how is Cortana threatening Lord Hood in Infinite? Or did that get retconned?

There seems to be a lot that was either retconned or suffers from a severe lack of information, Laconia Station and Lord Hood either being killed or not. In Lord Hood’s case, it’s possible Cortana threatened him while he was on his way out of the Sol system and blew up Sydney as a warning not to try and fight her like she did Dosiac, but we really don’t know yet. Laconia Station though seems more like a retcon. Hopefully, either 343i clears this hope in a Canon Fodder post or in the Halo Encyclopedia that’s coming out in March next year.

Is Laconia Station such an issue? As I recall Bad Blood made it pretty clear that Leonidas had managed to evade attempts to remove and delete him. Not outwith the realms of possibility that after Alpha-9’s mission he managed to retake control to destroy it

I would have liked to have heard Lord Hood again. Even to just get a sense of the disbelief of why she was doing this. Locke and Laskey seem to just take that as a given, “well this is happening now. Reset the clock.” But Lord Hood met Cortana and she helped defend Earth. He should be shocked.

Could’ve been before he and Osman left Earth.

Funny I can imagine a senile old Hood trying to negotiate for earth Cortana being like I don’t think you understand -Yoink!-
