How dare you call the SPNKR rocket “functionally obsolete.”
It works exactly the same as your pointless, bland replacement rocket launcher, only the SPNKR had style. It was unique in design and function, and then you came along with the generic looking M57 that operates exactly the same. You copied the functionality exactly (magazine fed, dual rocket capacity), yet somehow you have the nerve to call the original obsolete? How dare you slander our beloved SPNKR! No one likes your new replacement rocket.
In years to come, people will recognize the SPNKR. The M57 will be forgotten. It doesn’t even have a cool name. It looks like any other rocket launcher from any other game.
Any Marine, ODST, Insurgent, Spartan, or Covenant could tell you that the SPNKR is far from “functionally obsolete.” Go look at the stats and compare the kill count of the SPNKR model rocket launchers to that of your silly M57.
You guys are just mad that people didn’t like your uninspired redesign.
(Don’t be surprised if this thread is removed; 343i doesn’t seem to believe in freedom of speech.)

You want them to retract a little lore bit about the SPNKR, isn’t that a violation of freedom of speech?
It’s a classic look, and I love it. Who cares if it is functionally obsolete lore wise. This thread is making a fuss over nothing.
Dude, that’s just flavor text. They’re adding the SPNKR to Halo 5 this month anyway, so it’s not worth getting up in arms about it.
For shameeee. SPNKR can kick our new little Rocket Lawnchair’s buttocks

Doesn’t work that way on forums I’m afraid, when you sign up you agree to abide by the terms / rules of the forums laid out by 343i. While FoS does grant you the “right to communicate one’s opinions and ideas without fear of government retaliation or censorship”, it doesn’t grant you your own soapbox to stand on and in some cases holds exlusions.
Personally, I like both designs. SPNKR is a classic for sure, but you can’t keep the same deisgns forever. Models change, improvements and refinements are made, i’m sure the actual miltary will update their equipment and designs over time. I don’t see any reason why 343i can’t do this themselves, it’s their Halo now.

And your comment is a fuss over a fuss over nothing.

In addition, branding the older model as “obsolete” isn’t really a “lore bit.” Lore is the culmination of knowledge, traditions, culture, etc. of a (typically fictional) subject. A subjective opinion about the functionality of a particular piece of technology in a given set of lore is just that; it is an opinion, not a factual piece of the lore itself.

I didn’t say that it does work that way on the forums. In fact I said it doesn’t work that way on the forums. All you did was further prove my point. The terms / rules don’t lay out FoS, so we are on the same side here. I didn’t mean to imply that 343i are obligated to abide by FoS, I was simply pointing out that they typically don’t.

Huzzah!
Wait so you are compaining about 343i’s opinion and want them to retract their opinion, but also complaining that 343i doesn’t like your opinion and might forcibly retract it?
The new rocket launcher can only lock on to Air vehicles while the SPNKR was… well it sometimes could and sometimes couldn’t

It is a video game, get over your opinion about the opinion which does not really exist.
I fail to see how it’s obsolete compared to the new launcher, they’re practically the same.

Typically, users break the rules and that’s why threads are locked (threads are only removed in very rare circumstances), it has nothing to do with freedom of speech. More often than not it’s the way in which threads are presented that gets them locked.
