splitscreen

Why is there no splits screen it is annoying that I can’t play with my friends and brother

I feel your pain, man. I’m really upset about this too. 343i’s excuse is that split screen would break the 60fps dependent Halo 5 game. Phil Spencer’s excuse is it’s hard to get people to come over for local play making Xbox Live epic or whatever. Those are terrible excuses, especially Spencer’s BS opinion. He probably has no close friends or family. 343i is just incompetent of listening to their community.

Yup probably the biggest mistake 343 ever did, right next to loadouts

It’s not an excuse, it’s the REASON.

60FPS on split screen with as many pixels as they are using, the system simply would not support it. The Xbox 1 is like a $200-$300 computer tower at best.

Look at how poorly H2A plays in the MCC, some maps are almost unplayable on split screen.

They had to make the call for the better of the game, END OF STORY.

By the way, this thread will be locked and you will be linked to the official split screen thread with over 100 pages in which no one’s going to read :frowning:

To be honest, dealing with laggy split screen is much better than buying a new Xbox One, new TV, Xbox Gold account, and a copy of Halo 5. Face it, 343i and Microsoft benefit so much from this change.

Also the resolution isn’t great, and it isn’t constant 60fps. Looks like Halo 4.

Yet they are looking into bringing git back for Halo 6

If they do which i hope then that would show they are blatantly lying about Halo 5 being unable to support it.

Lack of splitscreen directly affects how much fun I have in game because I also cannot play it with my brother, or any of my friends for that matter as none of them own xboxes anymore. It therefore makes it a worse game than it could have been because I get less enjoyment than what I could’ve been getting. Bring back Halo CE graphics for all I care. Graphics don’t make a game and neither does 60fps.

Not saying you are wrong but this is how things are going to work moving forward with almost every game.

No split screen on ANY of the X1 big releases.
FB3
Fallout 4
Rainbow 6
Doom
***Star Wars Battlefront: local Co-Op and Online Co-Op (requires two systems to connect) DOES NOT support Local Co-Op + Online

If you want a system that can support Co-Op in the future expect to spend $600-$900 on the system. Then you scare off your majority which are people that don’t really care of it so they won’t buy the system. It’s a risk assessment, they took the better risk.

I think that split-screen needs to be in Halo 6. When you are using split-screen the game should just lower the resolution and frames per second. To be fair it is a lot more complex then changing a few settings, but it should be done.

you would have the engine drop frame rate to 25-30 fps for those who want to enjoy split-screen. As well as other techniques.

The issue isn’t the system, it was time. They did not want to spend the time (and thus money) developing a feature that the majority would hardly ever use.

Thats what I’ve thought. Aside from the frame rate I don’t see anything so amazing I’m dying to play this game. It looks too much like halo 4

This will not be patched. I hope 343i will include it in all other games.

I love it when this new crop of Waypoint users attempt to dominate the forums by trying to moderate how the topic is discussed. Large caps - END OF STORY. It’s cute.

Nuclear, you won’t hear the end of this until March 2016, if past controversies are anything to go by.

Here’s my question, is it necessary for Split-screen to run at the same frame-rate as Single player? I really don’t hear people talk about this that often. Does a screen split in half need to run at 60 fps? I know the people splitscreen-ing it won’t care. I know you won’t care - you don’t Split-screen. Moreover, perhaps 343 could have cut back on the blinding orange lens flare, incessant particle effects, or ONE of the Warden Eternal’s, in that case. Is that what ripping out this feature made room for?

You also bring up the fact that no other games (save the highly anticipated BlOps 3, of course) will have split-screen of any description.

This is a reason for Halo 5 to have splitscreen, if you ask me. Let’s corner that damn market. Little brothers, dads and roommates will have a game they can play when they otherwise wouldn’t. It’s diversity in a stagnant genre - a beautiful thing to behold.

Might want to just get over it, split screen has fallen to the way side of LANs.

Nope, i just work within the I.S. industry and understand and to put it in the dumbest wording as I can.

Single Player Logic dropped to 30fps. This isn’t how the number works but again, tier 1 level version
60 / 2 * 1 = 30 but running on a single engine

Split Screen Logic running dropped to 30fps.
60 / 2 *2 = the extra 2 is because the engine has to run two completely different calculations at the same time

This thread like all the others will be locked and re directed ot the useless official thread.

Funny hwo they do that for important themes but not for other “Repeat threads”

Wow, they haven’t shut down this thread yet?
BlOps3 and SW Battlefront will both support split screen. Only Halo can’t meet their performance standards AND accommodate multiple players on one console.
It’s a simple matter of resource allocation and 343i decided to allocate their resources to other things.
…and that’s why I’ve decided to allocate my gaming dollars to other games.

So, you’re saying that it would be too taxing on the engine to get Split Screen and Single Player to run at different frame rates? It is quite difficult to get Single Player to run at 60 and Split Screen to run at 30?

Please use this thread to discuss this topic, thanks.
