Splitscreen Co-op cancelled?

Can someone please post the source which states splitscreen co-op is canceled? I need to see this -Yoink!- for myself.

More and more I’m wondering why Microsoft don’t get another studio involved. Too many false promises.

It was bad enough that they lied about the progression system but they literally said “We’ve done a lot of learning from when we fell down, like with multiplayer in MCC, or when we didn’t put split-screen in Halo 5. I think it’s incredibly painful for the community and for us and I think it erodes trust with the community.”

It is a big deal. I have three kids who love Halo and we were all hoping to play 4-player co op and were told by the CEO herself this was going to happen guaranteed…and now much like has been the case for years and years…promised broken.

It’s pretty sad.

Know what you mean. I grow up playing classic Halo with coop and it’s part of Halo’s identity. 343i promised all future Halo games would have splitscreen and said they had learned then they pull stunts like this. I’m kind of tired of the false promises from 343i.

That’s extremely disappointing. One of my biggest issues with H5 was the lack of splitscreen. At least there’s always MCC for splitscreen, but I was really looking forward to finally playing a newer Halo with friends using splitscreen.

so have they cancelled it or just delayed it for a long time? the video just said they decided to move resources elsewhere but don’t actually say it’s cancelled.

i hope it’s just delayed and when resources are free again it’ll be added.

they promised all future games would have it. mp already has it, so why can’t the campaign have it?

i hope this isn’t the end…cus imma probably going to uninstall and ditch halo altogether. cross it off as another series of games ruined.

move on to something else…

They announced it is officially canceled as of today.

it is and it’s my exit note from the franchise. I won’t be back for any future titles under 343i nor will I waste my time flighting. Done

I will never forgive them for this and All trust has finally been lost. They might not realize it yet, but this will go down as what killed Halo for all future generations. It’s only fitting that JS helped bring it into this world from the beginning and was there to deliver the news to us of its passing.

It sucks that you can’t play Halo with your kids. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t any other four-player coop games around that give the same effect. My cousins, nephews and nieces love playing Halo too even when I was younger. But we grew up and learned there were other multiplayer games that give the same entertainment.

If you’re looking for specifically Halo, there’s MCC. But Infinite is on a different priority that is focusing on the latter.

But nobody said you would be settling for less features? The video stated that they divert their focus to other content that be released. Splitscreen wouldn’t even last long to be played. When I was doing the beta, my and my friends beat it within a two days and had no appeal to go back. And its not even Infinite, that is straight every Halo game.

I am sure any multiplayer mode they released is much more settling than a splitscreen mode you go back to every few weeks or months.

WTF? Unlike 5, this game already has split screen. What’s the issue now? This some bull.

There are like 342 more important things they could be focusing their intention on rather than split screen.

I know right? I want split screen to kill my friends not play the campaign.

Oh no, i’m calling the no split screen coop bull. I do want to play through campaign with my wife and kids split screen.

Split screen was with every Halo until Halo 5. That makes it a feature, one that 343 promised to include after Halo 5. That’s why so many people are irate that a basic feature that used to come standard with Halo is cancelled. Saying you’re okay with it becoming cancelled is settling for less features. Either way we’re going to revive the mp content, it was always just a question of how long. Now we’re still getting the mp content but without split screen co-op for campaign.

If 343 hadn’t promised to include it after H5 there probably wouldn’t be as much as an uproar as there is now. But by promising it and saying that they learned from Halo 5, only to do this is just another shot to the gut of fans who thought they’d keep their promises.

I’m not sure if Staten is wholey responsible for Splitscreen cancellation, seems like he’s just made to bear bad news.

Think about it: their entire focus on Openworld was baked into slipspace engine before Staten was brought on, and now they have issues getting Coop off the ground, never mind splitscreen.

343 never planned to do splitscreen. They obviously want players connecting over Live because that means more consoles and more copies of the game need to be owned.

Seriously if you just do a little mental exercising, you quickly realise everything wrong with modern Halos is related to 343’s greed.

Its a big deal because they said it would be a thing. Thats why its a big deal. Some people like my stupid self went and got an halo edition xbox x so I could play campaign with my gf since she never played halo before. So yeah its big deal when people make false promises.

343 definitely planned to make it split screen. Sorry but you’re wrong. Bonnie ross said every halo after 5 would have split screen campaign. Joseph himself said infinite would have split screen when the talked about the game before it was released. Go back and do your research because they 1000% said infinite would have split screen campaign.
