Split the Playlists!

So, you have split the playlists into two, one for Infinity Slayer and one for Classic Slayer, good start.

Now for BTB, oh wait we need our Classic and Infinity Options, that’s two extra playlists.

Team Objective! Two playlists for those! Of course if we went with 343’s original idea of one playlist for each game-type, prepare for about lots of Playlists each separate for Classic and Infinity!

And don’t forget doubles!

I have never believed in splitting the play-lists, it will just spread out the population leading to a low population per playlist.
Yes, you can have one Infinity and one Classic play-list, but only one, there must be a middle ground game-type which everyone can at least enjoy for the main playlists, splitting them would only cause more problems in my opinion.

Splitting the community is a bad thing. It may solve some issues but then there will be many problems to come along with it.

The only playlist split that should happen is a Ranked/Social split.

Worked fine for Halo 3.

In my opinion, being split by Ranked and Social is different than being split by game-types.

Let’s have Ranked and Social. Social is mostly Infinity, Ranked is mostly Classic.

Ranked and social should split players based on gametypes, not settings.

All the good Halo games had universal player settings (except for party game modes of course) but different objectives and ranking systems. That’s how Halo should be split.

Pandering to 2 fanbases will only mean you spend less time designing maps/unique content (as you’re building classic/infinity modes for everything) and all 343i will achieve is making a half–Yoinked!- Halo game that doesn’t satisfy either community, as well as segregating the community.

Build the game competitively, damn it. The best games in franchises stick to the core mechanics of that franchise and refine it, see Resident Evil 6, the new DMC, Halo 4 and Gears Judgement for a couple recent examples of how changing core mechanics leaves fans underwhelmed. Conversely, games like Halo 3, MW2, Dark Souls, Skyrim and The Witcher 2 are a few examples of what happens when you take the game your fanbase loves and build upon it in innovative ways.

Infinity settings are drastically different from classic, so I’d say go classic with a ranked/social split.

So if your a social player who prefers the classic settings, you’re -Yoinked!-.

Must we have a thousand threads on one topic at the same time?

OT: I too think the MP should split.

How about some of the Legendary playlists are ranked (Slayer, Objective, MLG, FFA). Something like that. Then we (the Social Classics) would still have Legendary BTB to play around with. Also, I think Legendary gametypes should be available as voting options in Infinity playlists aswel, as one of three options (Infinity, Infinity, Legendary) sometimes.

We have to consider that 343i can’t make 3 sets of playlists and whatever they do someone will get the shaft. I am willing to deal with in-game CSR if I get to play my favorite gametypes.

Classic settings are better for ranked playlists and just like in Halo 3 casual players can play ranked and stay within their skill level. That was the whole purpose of level locking to begin with - so casual players could consistently play people at their level without having to worry about overly competitive 50s going super-duper-try-hard.

Not splitting the playlists between ranked and social would prevent people from ever being able to play completely casually.
