To be honest, it’s a lot of my incentive to keep going in Halo. My wife likes to play with me, but the lack of split screen makes it all sorts of stupid. They had it on the N64. Why can’t we have it now?!
I doubt it will make a return since Microsoft want to sell more Xbox’s therefore if you cannot play on the same console you’ll have to buy another one, greedy -Yoinks!- ruining Halo bit by bit

Not in Halo 5 for the way it was coded.
Its probably possible, but judging by the fact they cant even add in small things the community wants, doubt it would ever happen.
It may be far-fetched, but my eventual hope is that 343 will release an update to the game once it starts declining more in it’s popularity and player base that will allow for both splitscreen and multiplayer to be available offline. The whole purpose was supposedly “graphics,” but I think the real motivation was to try and sell more Xbox Ones and copies of Halo 5 by only allowing it to be single player throughout. Fingers crossed that once this game does eventually come to pass, they’ll open up those features so the game can be enjoyed locally moving forward!
