So I was waiting till 12 to play halo with my bud, 12 came around we got hyped went to play coop split screen annnnd found out there was none… Kinda sorta really depressed now/lost hype.
Goodbye halo child hood memories.
Went to play warzone it was fun… Thought about getting a warthog then decided to go off and lone wolf with a hydra cause warthogs are pretty damn lonely without your friends…
This is all so disheartening with no split screen.
Thank you Halo for ruining a perfect evening with my fiance, we’ve played all the Halo games together for years, and last night we waited until 12am to play it together…and we couldn’t BIGGEST let down ever…and the excuse…‘We didn’t want to ruin our full screen optimized graphics’. Pathetic. No one would have given a damn if it was slightly poorer quality at split screen, the Halo anniversary managed it…so you’re telling me Microsoft couldn’t do it and Bungie could…well that says a lot huh!?
They never made a huge announcement, so I’m not surprised. There are probably thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, out there experiencing the same thing you are: Plopping in the game with a buddy, and realizing there’s no splitscreen. I’ve had tons of friends the past few days ask me if they could come over and play Halo 5 with me on release day (At least 10), to which I have to say: “Sorry, there’s no splitscreen…” Which leads to a lot of disappointing response. I freaking hate telling them that.

ummmmmmm… Microsoft made Halo anniversary, and can you imagine the lag with spartan abilities?

kk, you have a point but IGN did say that it wouldn’t, and so did all the media for a while
This is honestly most likely because of all the people who moaned and cried about games not being in 1080p 60FPS. If all these graphics whores weren’t there to complain, they proably would have had splitscreen with 30FPS.
Well that is 14 years of split screen with my dad ended. We could barely afford the game, there is no way we could even buy another console to play on at least not until late next year. Thanks for the end of a tradition 343.
I’m so freaking annoyed right now! My brother and I argue alot but we get on well with halo… BUT THEREA NO FREAKING SPLIT SCREEN! like others we assumed it would be like the other halos and both paid a portion only oh wait its no split screen. So yeah thanks 343i ( that was sarcastic ) so if u can please introduce split screen because it would only affect people who want split screen others can still have 360 suround and all that stuff but atleast let the fans have some input! Oh well time to get back to doing nothing while my bro speeds through the campaign so I can play it…
There is a dedicated thread for split screen, please can you post there. And yes, it does suck that there is no split screen in Halo 5, but if there was the frame rate would be all over the place and it would be more effort to play than enjoyment.
But OP, this has been common knowledge for the Halo community for a while now. We all miss splitscreen but its not the end of the world. Its not like you can’t play Halo 5 with your friends and family still. You will just have to take it in turn to play. Obviously this isn’t as fun but doesn’t mean it isn’t fun and you can’t have fun
we all feel your pain OP, but most of us have learnt to accept the reality of the situation, even though it’s not that great. However, as a tradeoff we get silky smooth 60 fps which is impressive.

It is not about the graphics.
Developers can tune down the graphics and framerate only for when playing in Split-Screen! 343I just didn’t bother with Split-Screen…
I never had a family… so I never knew what it was like to play spilt screen. :’(

EXACT same thing. My wife and I spent the past week playing the halo 4 campaign to get refreshed. Turned on halo 5 at midnight, found out we couldnt play splitscreen campaign or even multiplayer, and then put halo mcc back in. Sad times. 343 honestly ruined the halo franchise. Halo is meant to be splitscreen. Thats in its foundation…

Well then the simple solution there would have been to cut out the armor/Spartan abilities.

Honestly wouldve rather had 40-50 fps and splitscreen then 60fps and not being able to play the game at all because my wife and I splitscreen our games…

You still had to dig for the info, you think if they put a disclaimer on the case they would have sold as many copies? People just expect it from a series that has always had it.

Not 343i’s fault you didn’t pay attention to the details. They were pretty firm about announcing this decision months back. Halo 5’s media campaign was the biggest since Halo 3, so there is no possible way for that information to be outright ignored.
