Good luck with that. Had a buddy over to watch the bball game and then we figured might as well try some Halo split screen.
Words can’t describe the atrocity that is Halo 4 on split screen. It’s like Pitfall on Atari.

Haha yup it’s terrible.
Yep, that 5-10 framerate is quite the show lol.

…Woah

It literally is like 5 fps. Reminds me of drawing on a notebook of paper and flipping through the pages to make an animation…it really is something. If you go 5 and 20 it’s amazing

Agreed, it is pretty atrocious. Can’t believe it hasn’t been addressed yet.
If an analogy were to be made on the forums, it would be as follows:
Halo 4’s splitscreen functions as properly as its site’s moderators are useful; Not at all.
Ok, lets settle this once and for all.
The reason you get the Framerate you do is because of the graphic power of the game. Why?
Because your 360 is rendering everything on the screen 2 times or more.
The entire fact that you are trying to play such a graphically intensive game on the 360 in split screen is the reason why its laggy and dropped frame rate. 343 cannot do anything to fix it.
You on the other hand can turn down the graphics rendering on your Xbox. And that’s about it.
I use a bloody ancient CRT TV screen for Halo playing - and I never have any problems while split-screening. Maybe HD randering pushes the console to it’s limit, and causes the split-screen framerate drops?

And… So you explained why… So then… Everything is ok?
I’d rather they take the split screen option out. Can you seriously think they tested it and were like " yep, we nailed it. Ready to ship…"

I believe previous versions of Halo removed some graphics, or dumb the graphics down to keep the Fram Rate in Split Screen still high.
I think Halo 4 does not do this and hence the bad frame rate. I have not played Halo 4 split screen so have not been unfortunate to witness this.

Nope, mine’s on HD, and the only way I play h4 is on splitscreen with friends these days. We only encounter problems if you have 4 people system linking on campaign.
I’m not sure why other people are having issues. Our Xboxes are still the older big white ones.
Personally the only times I ever have problems during split screen are when i play on community forge maps (simplex especially) and sometimes on Shatter. I would like to see some videos of other peoples split screen experiences just to compare so if you could post it in here that’d be great
you’re right, it is extremely frustrating on the community forge maps
the 343i-made maps are playable in split screen, but my buddy and I have to quit basically every game we get into thats a forge map. headshots are basically impossible when all the enemies are doing the thriller dance around you
