My wife and I play together 90% of the time. When we play on complex or larger maps and are not with in radar range of each other the game starts to lag. The farther away we are the worse the lag gets.
Are we the only ones that are experiencing this which would indicate it possibly being a processor issue, or are others experiencing the same thing?
I’m sad to say that Halo 4, despite undersizing split screen gameplay, does this to me too. I haven’t tried since the title update, which seems to have made at least single player gobs smoother.
My guess? The graphics and physics and game engine as a whole just taxes the Xbox 360’s processing power. They can either remove certain effects from Halo, or allow a dip in fps. Due to the aesthetics of the gameplay and how important it is that models look real and explosions look pretty, they’ve allowed a dip in frames per second. I’m running a relatively new and good condition GoW3 edition Xbox S. It’s not surprising to me that this would happen. Halo 4 looks AMAZING. Technically it is one of the most impressive games for Xbox 360 ever. New engine, full 720p output, bigger effects (mostly), more pixels being crunched at any given point in time. That means the internals of the xbox are being stressed to almost their maximum when action is occurring on and off screen, particularly because they have to stream the maps and account for all events happening all over the maps. Bigger maps cause bigger drain on available processing power.
Halo 4 is just another beautiful nail in the coffin of the efficiency of the platform for Xbox 360.
