All I heard was Joe Staten said they were using their resources on other priorities.
Not that split-screen will never be reality for Infinite.
It definitively is bad that Infinite didn’t launch with it.
But if they plan to make campaign DLC, that will be a golden oppurtunity for them to implement split-screen.
So, all I heard was that split-screen was not on their priority list, not that it never will be on their list.
If it ain’t a priority, it ain’t coming out. It’s just a nice way of saying it. I’ve never heard anything that isn’t a priority come out, usually because the priority list is massive and keeps getting added to over other features. They’re mostly for the multiplayer as that’s where the money is, they don’t make any money from the campaign after initial purchase.
everyone is throwing around the word “cancelled” though…might as well be true.
shame they can’t be honest about anything, it’s always vague answers.
when he looked at the camera and said the bit about splitscreen i wanted to reach in and smack him.
closed the browser tab in digust and cursed at the screen…i sooo wanted to play couch co-op.
If it’s not even in the 2023 plans, it doesn’t really feel like it matter.
If they’re releasing a staple feature 3+ years after launch when the game is barely surviving 1, I’d prefer them to just ditch Infinite and the 10 year plan do it right with the next game.
Yeah MCC pc had split screen support added to the backlog 2 years ago. not a word since then. features dead broskie and ain’t coming back cause that’s how 343i work. They’ll bring it back only if every single person who plays is willing to pay $40 for the feature and even then itll take 3 years to show up if at all.
They also said that Season 3 will be their fresh new start on seasonality.
Like every season lasts for 3 months.
Which indicates more content will get out for short amount of time.
And it seems that they want to do things right.
I don’t trust them tho.
But if we will get like 4 seasons in 2023, the possibility for some split-screen priority is definitively there.
Not only to go after this list of things that [Sean Baron] talked about, which we’re fired up do to, but to work on experiences that we’re not quite ready to talk about yet, we have had to make the difficult decision not to ship campaign, split screen co-op, and take the resources that we would use on that and go after this list and all these other things that were going to talk about.
Joe Staten (emphesis added)
After the above quote from Joe it was a hard cut and quick change of subject, no clarifications. They didn’t say postponed, or delayed, or long term plans, or hope for future, or any other word smithing that 343 likes to do to string us along on other things that will never come (dual wielding/playable elites). It’s gone. Accept it. Cope how you like, but don’t spread false hope.
Do not misinterpret my comment as contentment with the state of the game. I’m just trying to give OP a dose of reality that 343 now has no plans to work on split screen co-op, they didn’t just move it down their priority list.
By all means, fight the good fight and encourage 343 to reconsider, I would love to play Halo again with my dad just like the good old days. Even better, play and pass on the legacy to my kids.
He said they cut it AT LAUNCH.
Why on earth do he just mention launch?
And why mention split-screen at all if they don’t think about it?
Just to give false comfort to the loyal fans?
Did you read my quote above? He didn’t say anything about launch. Launch was 10 months ago anyways so that wouldn’t make any sense. He said they are not going to ship co-op split screen. Period. The end.
I like the optimism, but most of the time in the gaming industry when resources are “moved away from” something it usually means it’s cancelled or they have no plans to continue working on it.
