I can. But it’s not a pretty reason. Disagreement on the best way to monetize it, or alter it to make it so.
We can only hope not.
im calling it now they more then likely dont want to respond to it, they dont want to have to aknowledge this issue and rather let it queitly dissapear, because having to engage with it only further reveals their staggering incompetence, that the community has managed to get splitscreen campaign to work but 343i themselves cant figure it out and implement it.
they cant even make a basic game mode where if you die to the enemy team, You switch teams but with a sword. (infection) and now we have people with early forge tools Already doing it…Like for real?
not to mention the fact they have to Beta test how to give you XP based off match performance when theyve done it in their own games prior.
They haven’t really had time to respond.
And they can’t just put stuff out willy-nilly. The community has shown how toxic it get’s over every single word. It would just make things worse.
Particularly at the moment when everyone is a bit twitchy.
That’s an overstretch. It’s not like somebody fixed the source code themselves. They just found a loop hole to access 343’s work in progress.
What we haven’t figured out yet is the rate limiting step that’s stopping them progressing to publish the feature.
Hopefully that’s the bit they will talk to us about soon.
They could do that part of it easily too.
As we all will in Forge. Most people will have their own versions of Infection pretty much up and running on Day one.
Maps and mode specific graphics on the other hand. Audio. Challenges. You know, the bits you want developed to a specific standard? That’s a different kettle of fish. Unless of course they actually just give us those tools in Forge (wishful thinking).
I imagine the “beta” testing is just a rider so they can change the points allocation around without upsetting anyone.
Otherwise someone will find a way to milk something for nothing and then get upset when that loophole is closed.
I watched Min Blitz similar video.
In the video he loaded up mission 2 with the bug, but it still started mission 1 for him. He didn’t give any comment on this though.
Does anyone know the exact details?
Can I load games or only start from scratch?
How much risk is it and what are the consequences?
Do we risk loosing the entire save halfway through so we have to start over again?
My gf is currently playing the series for the first time. Would be great if we could play it together, but if it’s too risky she’d better play it solo. So she doesn’t loose all her progress
They won’t. The mcc pc base bitched about the lack of split screen. It got added to the backlog once pending further discussion and then was never spoken about again. Company refuses to acknowledge it. Same thing is happening here. 343 hates split screen and that’s a fact. It doesn’t make them more money and can’t be monetized so why bother to keep working on it. 343 really doesn’t understand what made the franchise as amazing as it was.
Just going after the forge deal. Love forge, it’s great always has been an awesome feature to be able to build and share maps with others. This time around though, they’re going to push forge our so that we can do their work for them. Guarantee you we won’t start seeing notable map additions to the game until after forges launch and I guarantee you all of those maps are going to be forge creations rebranded as 343i originals. I see how they’ve been operating since 5 and guarantee this is what’s coming next year.
I believe it, It’s my running theory when it comes to desync and the massive delays were seeing, although mines a bit more conspiratorial
This makes a lot of sense, however… If that were the case why aren’t they telling us that?
It “Runs” as in it is accessible on all three platforms.
But I’ve yet to see any of these leakers show that the OG Xbox One can actually handle it in the game’s more intense areas and fights - and keep a playable, acceptable performance level. And that is ignoring how buggy and crash-y it is. All they’ve done it seems is go through the Grabakkon, Outpost Tremonious and then try a few outposts.
100% willing to bet that the OG Xbox One can’t handle something like Horn of Abolition, the Scorpion Run, players off with flying vehicles in different areas of the map etc. and that is why it isn’t coming out.
i’d be willing to judge it based on video evidence. Anybody find such, please post!! ![]()
starts you from the beginning
There’s no risk, you just need an online friend to make the glitch work. nobody is getting banned for doing this and they shouldn’t be in the future.
You do risk losing your save file. I’d recommend dedicating 3-4hrs and just run through it if you can.
You’ll get crashes sometimes and lag spikes.
Best if you don’t play on Xbox one, the map is too messed up to use. But works ok on other xbox & pc.
Do you think this is the rate limiting step?
If they had gone 100% on getting it to work and the Xbox One was simply not up to the task - that could explain why they had to drop the project. I’m not sure Microsoft would let them release something that didn’t work across the whole Xbox family.
I wouldn’t be surprised if their initial time-lines were to be dropping the older Xboxes by now - but chip scarcity and cost have slowed the take up of Series S/X. Maybe the feature will be taken up again when Microsoft officially drop the older consoles.
Yes. Xbox One is almost a decade old already.
They didn’t. 343 wanted to scrap the xbox one version. But microsoft game studios wanted it. Overall, the xbox one version just barely works. Anyone playing multiplayer on it is at a very severe disadvantage.
The problem is going to be that a big chunk of the population is still on them.
But the end is in sight?
I’ve noticed the local shops always seem to have Series S consoles. But not so much the Series X.
Production of the older series officially stopped in 2020?
What is the normal lag between stopping production and ceasing support?
The Series X is notoriously hard to get. A lot of friends of mine got theirs from best buy. They have some bundle that comes with 2 years of game pass ultimate and you can just make payments on it.
It varies as that’s an executive management decision. We can reasonably expect developers to release games on it until at least 2024. Support such as xbox live service and updates to this game will likely continue into the 2030s.
Fun Fact: Microsoft still supports Windows 7 with updates even though it came out in 09. It was supposed to stop 2020. But they decided on an extended life cycle of support.
It is unlikely support gets extended for the Xbox one consoles though. It would be like if nintendo still supported N64 today.
MS didn’t cut the servers for Halo 4 on the X360 until last year!
So we can assume that Xbox One will have Infinite access for a fair while yet.
At some stage the proportion of players on the system will drop to the point that they can start to segregate some parts of the game as Series S or above. But we are apparently not at that stage yet.
Google hasn’t been helpful with finding a break down of consoles currently in use. And I doubt MS has, or would, publish that data (apart from actual sales numbers).
I’m assuming we will get a carefully measured response from 343 soon. Particularly now that they know the split screen is being played by people. Hopefully they will touch on some of this data then.
Yeah there’s going to be people on xbox one for awhile. Longer than expected because of the pandemic + ongoing chip shortages.
If you’re on Xbox one and only/mostly play Halo, definitely hunt down that Series X folks.
If you’re on Xbox one and play a variety of games, especially sports games, you’ll be ok until prices drop.
Why? 343 has it’s own game engine and it’s not optimized for xbox one well, other games are using game engines that were built for xbox one gen originally.
Thank you so much for the reply!
It’s nice to hear it works well, too bad you can’t continue saves though.
You’re welcome.
It’s possible to continue a save. But it can get corrupted/not work.
I’d only try to load a splitscreen save if the game crashes.
