The reason the community has split is simply because there are different generations of Halo players. There are those who think Halo 2 was the greatest Halo of all time but remember that an entire generation of players didn’t start playing until Halo 3 and consider that to be the definitive Halo experience. Then there are those who haven’t started until Reach and a lot of them actually like the way it plays while some of the Halo 2 and 3 people think it sucks.
343i has said numerous times that you can’t please everyone and it’s absolutely true. Too many people have their own dream Halo in mind but not everyone is going to like what you want and you’re not always going to like what they want. That’s life and there is no point in complaining about it. All you can do is wait patiently to see what 343i can come up with. Just know that they will take into account all the things that worked in the previous Halos and integrate them into Halo 4 the best they can while still giving it its own identity.
Stop being a bunch of whiny self centered pessimists and just be happy Halo is even still around. Halo 4 is going to be awesome. Thank you.

I mostly agree with you but I started at Reach, but I think Halo 2 was the best game SO FAR, (crossing fingers that Halo 4 will trump the rest!).

I think it’s more along the lines of Halo 1, 2, and 3 players vs. Reach lovers. Because for the most part, Halo 1, 2, 3, kept the same exact feel, only adding in weapons, vehicles, dual-wielding, etc. Reach on the other hand completely changed the way Halo plays out by dropping the BR which was held for so long, adding bloom (Later removed), adding perks, changing in game physics fairly radically from normal such as much less jump height and slower movement speed.
