Splinter Grenade, new idea.

How it currently works: Grenade lands on you and kills you and your entire lineage before anybody can react.

How it should work: Grenade has quite a bit reduced damage, but when it lands, it follows a nearby enemy for a short time.

The tracking effect is in line with a lot of the promethean weapons (tracking!), and instead of being primarily a murder cluster, it can flush spartans out of their hiding/ducking spots (think about Fortress on Stormbreak, in the downstairs garage there is a popular hallway that people sit in)

How this might fail: The way it always fails, which is it will be either too much damage, or too little. Proper tuning is key.

I like the idea of a homing grenade that does a lot of damage but not enough to kill on its own. Destiny had a lot of good grenade Ideas for strategic use and such.

Nothing more annoying than a person rushing in and floor bombing you with the Splinter insta-kill.

+1 for tracking at a certain range or line of sight. Or maybe just the splinters are tracking after the initial detonation. But then you don’t get the lol when people run into a splintered grenade.

So Desinty’s Hunter grenade? No.

How about that can be a new splinter grenade variant all together as the normal one is good but your idea is rad.

I don’t know, I kind of like the temporary wall that you can make with a Splinter. It seems pretty strategic and having it turned into a seeking grenade might be cool, but I think it would be better if the seeking grenade was a separate one entirely.

REQ grenades anyone?

I think they are probably a bit over powered.

At least with a sticky 'nade… I know I’m a goner, but I have a few moments to heroically finish my kill (it’s particularly bitter sweet when you can run at your enemy and take them out with their own blast).

But with these it’s just “where the yoink did that come from”.

I would be happier if they just EMP’d your shields down (maybe even for a prolonged time)… but an instant kill and a death web is a bit too much.

So it’s similar to something in Destiny, a game that broke Halo players’ hearts, it’s an automatic no with no explanation or alternative?

For the record, I have no idea what the Hunter grenade is.

it’s the swarm grenade. it splits just like the splinter grenade (actually EXACTLY like the splinter grenade) and it tracks enemies in close proximity. it does enough damage to take off their shields, but not enough to kill.

The splinter grenade is an upgrade itself from Halo 4 style promethean grenade.

But falls victim to a problem you see a LOT in multiplayer balancing. When a developer buffs a design, they make it so stupidly overpowered that it’s once again unbalanced.

It’s basically a shotgun in grenade form.
