Am I the only one that misses things like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM7f2CPTnoI
And why is that? Because you simply can’t splatter like you used to, due to the diabolical and out right ridiculous AA known as Armour lock. I still to this day, do not know why they even created such an AA, was it so hard to move out of the way? I guess it was to some people, but I do not recall anyone EVER complaining in Halo 2 or 3 about being splattered, it makes no sense to add something that can pretty much destroy vehicle combat, added with the fact that vehicles are made from paper in Reach, it’s depressing that you can’t have nearly as much fun running people over, not because they out played you, (I.e jumping out of the way and EMP’ing you) but because they would simply press a button, which is down right wrong. I am just hoping for a few things now…
I honestly hope that vehicles are like Halo 3’s, where they could actually take damage, I’m also hoping that Shots do NOT effect the vehicles path/movement, such as in Reach, where a simple few DMR shots, or even the Focus Rifle can knock vehicles off course and send them spinning.
People seem to think that a bullet is capable of moving a vehicle off course, this is in fact, not true at all, a vehicles momentum is tens of thousands more than that of a bullet, meaning a bullet wouldn’t have a chance off disturbing the vehicles movement path. I know exactly what some of you are going to say, “Lol Realism in a game where you shoot Aliens” This is simply flawed, some thing’s generally have to be realistic, which makes things more believable, most Sci Fi’s have the usual believable physcics ect in them, which makes them better, so why shouldn’t we? Basically, bullets simply shouldn’t effect a moving vehicle, not just to make it more believable, but for general gameplay reasons as well.
I’m hoping the Ragdoll physics are also like Halo 2’s and 3’s, in Reach, the player just gets sucked under the vehicle, it’s boring, and takes out most of the funny things about splattering people. It was such a joy to splatter people in Halo 3 especially, because of the Ragdolls, flying all over the place, hitting objects, it was such a blast! And highly entertaining.
From what we’ve seen, there doesn’t seem to be any vocal death screams, this could be just because it’s a demo, I sincerely hope that there’s going to be Death screams, another reason why splattering people was so fun, and not just that, it created very funny moments in shoot outs and pummel fights too, If they’re gone, I will not be able to understand, as it’s one of those things that is just right. Admittedly the noises in Reach are somewhat, bizarre, and they don’t sound like Spartans, however, they were still very funny.
Am I the only one that hopes splattering is going to be more viable? Has it been confirmed that the Hardlight shield CANNOT prevent a splatter, I know there’s a video of a Ghost splattering a Hardlight shield wielder, but I’ve also seen a video where a ghost is denied a splatter as it’s coming over a hill, and the player uses hardlight shield, and the Ghost pretty much does nothing.
