Halo is perfectly balanced, has a much better story, more weapons, more game modes, a higher skill gap, more user base. How did it lose? Whatever probably some noob reviewers who couldn’t get a kill in halo, so they went on splatoon and smashed some 6 year olds
eh its just an award show as long as it wasn’t CoD
Splatoon is a fun flashy colorful game with a variety of weapons. Idk how it got shooter of the year but its not like its a bad game
Why does everyone act like Nintendo games are solely kids games? Seriously pisses me off when people say stuff like that.
It won. There’s nothing you can do. Stop being so salty.

So are you a kid now or a squid now?

Honestly have no idea how it won shooter of the year. It may be a good and fun game, but I still can’t fathom anything that makes it stand out as shooter of the year.
Probably because Splatoon is something new and Halo 5 is disappointing to a large portion of it’s fans.

It breaks from the standard. It’s a fresh take on shooters. It’s extremely inclusive to the casual crowd. It’s dynamics/elements work.
I think the biggest contributor was its uniqueness.

Halo has none of those qualities and didn’t have a shot at winning anything except Biggest Disappointment of the Year.
Campaign is mediocre at best, screwed up game mechanics, broken aiming that still isn’t fixed, limited maps (that look like crap), and a massively broken multiplayer system.
I don’t see how this is such a problem. I want a WiiU partially for Splatoon, and also for Smash Bros. Spatoon looks fun.

People gotta be salty.
I, too, was surprised by Splatoon winning the award, but let’s be honest here… H5G never really had a shot in that category. Its inclusion with the nominees was just a courtesy freebie. If it hadn’t been Splatoon, it would have been Black Ops. If it hadn’t been Black Ops it would have been Battlefront. And if it hadn’t been Battlefront, it probably still would have been Destiny regardless. H5G wasn’t a real contender…
The 6th iteration of a standard Halo game that has less multiplayer modes and features than ever before against a new, creative IP stands no chance. Halo had to nail it and do new things after touching all of the bases it normally does. You can’t win off of solely good gameplay when you have an established franchise with established standards - and for good reason! Splatoon deserved to win even if I find it boring.
Splatoon is a good game. It is also very original.
I never heard of Splatoon before.
Splatoon is very mediocre with even less content then halo 5 so idk.
have you played Splatoon? It’s amazing. The Halo 5 Campaign was a let down, and a lot of the decisions that 343i made turned a lot of people away from Halo 5. Like making all the playlists ranked. Splatoon, to counter that, is extremely inviting and fun to play. I think it deserved to win Shooter of the Year.
I dunno, probably because Splatoon was a new concept for shooters, it’s a new IP with a new spin on shooters. That’s probably the thick of it.
It applies to a larger audience as well, so it probably has that going for it. I haven’t played it, and since I’ll probably never buy a WiiU, I may never have the pleasure.
To be honest, I forgot splatoon even came out this year. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it if I remember. If you can get past the fact you’re not a huge, masculine architecture of war that’s extremely serious, then I’d look into it.
