Are we going to be following the spirit of fires journey in Halo wars 2? Or are we getting a new ship with all new characters?
I believe that we will still be following Red Team, Anders, and Cutter, but there probably will be new characters, and even SPARTAN-IV’s added into the mix.
If it follows the same story line as HW, which took place 21 years before Halo: CE, then you probably shouldn’t expect to see Spartan IV’s. However, it could take place at a different point in time. Who knows.

They were in cryo-sleep, so who know’s how long they were out? It could go any direction as of now. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Yes it could. I think I agree with you in that I also hope it takes place closer to the present Halo time frame.
If it goes into SoF’s story I’m gonna lose it. I’ve been trying to figure out what happened to them for some time now.

oh he*l no, not the spartan-iv:s they look like plastic figures with crysis nanosuit under their armor pieces. Id rather like to see the mjolnir Mark iv or v again in the cutscenes instead of those so called spartans.
oh, and hopefully we will still follow the story of red team, but if thats the case we need new bad–Yoink- sargeant in the game in place of sgt forge.

what? Cant write bad-a** in post? Censored it just in case, but it has been mentioned in the game depending on what difficulty you are playing but at least in the start of H3.
The Spirit of Fire was mentioned at the end of the first escalation comic. But that doesn’t really say what happened to it after HW.
Well considering they have been stranded in space for awhile now I highly doubt they have a new vessel. But it looks like they have suffered some sort of breach since the end credits of the last game? And from Halo: Escalation there was a flood spore on the ship so who knows.

I liked Halo Wars being before CE, as a sort of backstory game. I really hope HW2 will also be set in the past, showing more things perhaps. Maybe a bridge between HW and CE? Or what the Spirit of Fire was doing during CE?
