Important: I made a typo in the titles. I meant to say split-screen, so I can only change them when the poll ends.
So with all this split-screen nonsense, I have a suggestion that people haven’t seemed to consider yet. I understand there’s a split-screen thread, but I wanted to get an opinion in a poll.
The mixed reactions for the removal of split-screen are tearing the community apart. There’s a group that feel the sacrifice is a good decision and will keep the game at optimal efficiency. They feel that the sacrifice of frames and graphics is worth it, that it’s too un-modern, or that it’s not possible to do split-screen. Then there are people who are on the fence (I’m in this field), who think that the removal of split-screen is bad for people who play Halo with it, but that the sacrifice makes sense and could be a good decision. Then there are the people who feel that the decision is the worst decision ever made and that this shows 343 not caring for the fanbase and only caring about graphics.
It was obvious in Joshy’s tweet that they originally planned to have split-screen, and that they decided to remove it afterwards. The one thing we don’t know is why. Is it simply because 343 only cares about graphics, because they couldn’t possibly do it, or because they didn’t have the time and resources to get it working?
The third “why” is what I’m going to focus on. After much thought I do believe that 343 cares about this removal. They are not souless automatons who try to ruin Halo because of money or graphics, they are real people who care for the series with a big time company breathing down their neck and who are working their -Yoinks!- off developing a game when really, people don’t know how hard it is to develop a game in the first place. But that’s what I believe. If I used this view on 343, then that makes me believe that split-screen is possible in Halo 5, but that 343 ran into a road block while developing it and worked tirelessly trying to make it work. They seemed to have made the decision to not have split-screen at launch because the time and resources required to do so would take away from other aspects of the game. Even with the people who have loved Halo for split-screen, 343 had to make a decision.
So what do you guys think about this idea? Do you think that maybe if we try hard enough 343 can patch in split-screen post-launch? Maybe then they will have the time to develop it and make it work. Would this make you happy even when it’s not in at launch? Is this even a possibility? Is 343 too greedy and won’t do this, or is it just impossible to do split-screen all together? Or is it possible and 343 just didn’t want the game to be slow and look like crap, or that it is possible and that 343 only cares about the graphics? What is your honest opinion?
Please be civil about this too. I know how vicious people on this forum get over the smallest disagreements.
No. Stop it already.

It sucks when someone refuses to read a thread with work put into it because of an over-saturation of crappy threads kind of with the same topic.
What’s spilt screen?

Typo. Can’t change it.
I could possibly see a 2 player splitscreen for multiplayer happening. Josh holmes originally stated that this was going to be the case, but that statement was taken back when we got the final verdict. But it shows that at one point they thought that maybe they were going to be able to make 2 local players work for multiplayer. I don’t know about Campaign, but if multiplayer is still possible for splitscreen then I’m sure they already plan on bringing it in post launch. If its not possible, then it not possible.

I think you can change it. There’s an edit button when the thread is open for you. I think it’s near the OP.

I really don’t see it happening. It sounds like the engine is completely incompatible with split screen.
I’m sure they can. Once they finally release the game they can focus on that if they want to. With enough effort and time I’m sure they can bring split screen and maybe they will in the future. I’m sure rite now they are just focused on finishing that game.
What are these choices? It is not that they don’t care or don’t want it in there. It’s just that it isn’t beneficial to the end product. If you want bad frames and poor graphics, have at it.

It says I can’t change it on the bottom until the poll ends. Sorry.

Isn’t beneficial? You are in the minority if you truly think that way. I have heard so many stories of people and their split-screen memories. I myself first played Halo at a split-screen party with a lot of friends. I played Halo 2, and it was what got me into Halo. If it wasn’t for split-screen, I wouldn’t be on this forum writing this. It is beneficial no matter how many frames and no matter how HD the textures are. It is a part of the series. It can’t just be tossed aside. And who says the frames and graphics can’t be pretty good? Given time, I bet 343 could pull off a smooth 30 fps or higher frames with Halo 4 MCC level graphics. We just don’t know the specifics, so acting like we do can cause hasty assumptions.
I really doubt it.
If there is tons of backlash which there already is why not plus I really don’t think this game will last so really adding that feature will only keep this game alive longer.

Yes, because having split screen is what is keeping Halo from maintaining a large online multiplayer presence, right? Wrong.
They are doing a great job so far.
The hype from The Hunt The Truth, the new Xbox, the additional controllers, the E3 reveal, the Gamescom reveal, the addition of Warzone, the Req Cards, the 1 million dollar Halo tournament, the multiple tournaments, the ability to buy the req cards and fund the tournaments, etc.
Just because split screen is gone, doesn’t mean it will not last a while. Get over it.
At OP, you have another thread specifically for Split Screen crap. I read you proposal, and I said no. It won’t happen. They have TOLD you it won’t happen. Stop grasping at straws. I stay out of the other thread to not upset people with reality, but seriously, get over it.

This has been considered several times. In several different split screen threads. But, I’ll bite. The only way SS can be added at this point is a complete overhaul of the engine. So waiting until the game launches and then trying to patch it in is going to be equally impossible as it is now.

Ok be like that and btw you need to calm down and get over yourself bud 343i hasn’t made a game that lasted and I’m one of the few that plays those games til there is no population so don’t reply with that attitude.

Kek. I never said I was special, cupcake. I gave you an answer, take it as an answer, or take it as an insult. I really don’t care either way, my stance stands. I’ve played Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo ODST, Halo 4, Halo Reach, etc, all of them. I just stay away from Halo Wars because I don’t like RTS games, but that doesn’t make my viewpoint any more valid than the next guy. They will succeed, they don’t need splitscreen to do so. Get. Over. It.
If it matters that much to you, buy another xbox one and monitor.

It’s people like you that make me hang my head.
If you actually cared to read it fully, I said I was in the middle ground. I neither love nor hate the split screen decision. What I am asking is what everyone else thinks about split screen being patched.

Yes, someone who looks at this problem logically, and listens to the devs makes you hang your head when he creates an answer that doesn’t try to force the devs to cave and reduce their vision down because you can’t be asked to play by yourself.
