I think I had more fun with this weapon than any other in halo…
I never get to use it, but when I see it on maps like Abridged… It’s pretty awesome.
I first picked it up and was all try hard with it like “ok, this is a shield ripper. I’ll rip their shields then switch to DMR and take their face off” it was working great! Especially against clueless players in BTB that were screaming at me “WHAT GUN IS THAT U HACKIN!” And “WHAT IS THAT SOUND?!”
But one time this guy surprised me, I had four shots left DMR… I landed each DMR to his body, switched to Spiker and unloaded into him… I was really surprised that he died! That was my first kill with the Spiker (because its main use is to remove shield not actually kill)
I’ve only got 38 kills with this thing in matchmaking but damn it is my new favorite weapon to goof off with. In BTB you can often land 5 DMR shots before they even notice you. To goof around I DMR people’s shields off, but instead of taking the easy headshot… I bust out this weapon that does very little damage to health to finish off my weakened enemy.
I realize that plasma pistol does more or less the same role… But Spiker = point sticks in their dead body = more fun lolz
I think this is all I do on reach now. Hope for Spiker maps.
Kinda the whole role reversal type deal. Ising DMR to take off shields then finishing the kill with plasma pistol or Spiker rifle just ticke me to endless lols.
Are we talking about the same gun??? I assume you mean the Needle Rifle, since there is no “Spiker Rifle” in Halo: Reach. And in that case, you’ve been misusing it! It’s actually a better tactic to take down the shields with the DMR and then whip out the Needle Rifle. Three body shots is a kill because of the supercombine, and the firing rate makes victory near-ensured! Better yet, forget the DMR altogether. Especially in Title Update settings, the Needle Rifle can pretty efficiently outperform it.

Not needler. The brute weapon, Spiker- type-25 carbine if you care to google
The brute Spiker rifle is in Reach and is in matchmaking a swell if you know where to look. Here, I use it for a moment here in Arena http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qw9asi-HIsE ( actually, I only walk over it repeatedly and never pic it up. I start walking over it around 2:10 and even die near it, never noticing it)
“Misuse it” duh, please read my post. That’s why it’s so funny. Tactically you can get very fast kills by stripping the shield with it then switching to DMR for easy headshot but to goof off, I used DMR to bust down shields and Spiker fill their body with spikes! The fact that I misused both guns as inefficiently as possible and earned a kill is the definition of lolz
Just checked leader boards for total kills with Spiker- type-25 carbine
41 kills with that brute Spiker ties me for 57 place in the world and 1st place in my city… That’s how under used this weapon is. This gun is so under used you didn’t know it was even in the game!
