Does anyone else agree with me when I say the way Spectate mode is handled is a bit odd? Would it be particularly difficult to introduce the mode in such a way where I could open a playlist and pick from a bunch of games just to spectate in? Like League of Legends for example.
I think that would be pretty neat. The way it is now, kind of hidden behind the friends/recent players list and a few other menus seems…weird to me.

In the Halo menus go to your friend’s list and select someone in a game and “Spectate” should be one of the options. Note if you’re in a Fireteam the option to spectate disappears.

The person you want to spectate already has to be in a game as well. Either a friend or someone you recently played with.
I kind of like to the option to spectate. If I am waiting for my friend to finish up a match, I can watch their match. I wish 343i would add the function to watch a Fireteam’s member’s game.
I think any number of people could Spectate because I don’t think the Spectate mode works how most people are used to as far as this day & age with Twitch streaming, etc. Most people are used to watching Twitch & that of course is a video streaming service of somebody’s game & it’s about 15 seconds behind on average if you have a quality broadband connection. Even though the video is highly compressed, you still need a decent broadband connection to stream it fluidly. How Halo 5 appears to work is similar to how the Theater Mode has worked since Halo 3. It simply remembers a string of tons of tiny little commands or markers, then you open that very small file & your game loads the map off your hard drive & recreates it from that tiny little file. The Specate mode in Halo 5 is in no way similar to Twitch, which most people are used to. A simple analogy to how Halo 5’s Specate works would be imagine two people sitting down & playing a game of Chess. If it was like Twitch, you’d be watching a video of them playing & it would stream to your Xbox over the internet. How Halo 5’s Spectate works is imagine if a computer program simply remembered everywhere the people moved the chess pieces during the match, then recreated that. So when you Spectate in Halo 5 you are loading the map off your hard drive & it is simply getting a tiny little file & displaying all those tiny little moves on your screen until the match is over, you are not actually spectating a live event. At least that’s how I think it works.
I have yet to see an option to spectate a match, checking friends that are playing or recent players that are still playing doesn’t provide any option to spectate. Are we sure this feature is live? Also when will saving custom games work? Two achievements not available right now.
Just to be clear I’m watching a friend play now via FaceTime, but it’s not an option to spectate his match. What gives?
