Okay guys, most of you probably know that there’s been this huge issue surrounding 343’s emailing out of Specialization codes, I didn’t get an email, along with 600+ pages of people on official Specialization forum. However, a lot of people are getting really angry saying things like “I’m totally selling this game” or “Halo is going to go down the toilet because of this”, and honestly, this is ridiculous. Sure, the Specializations didn’t come, I get that some of you can’t level any higher, but seriously, are you buying a game just to rank up in it? Is there no point to playing it if you can’t rank up? Well then you are going to have a tough 9 months to the next Halo, considering it really won’t take that long to cap out with the way Specializations leveling works. But back to my point, I’m fairly certain that this whole thing will be solved in an Update withing a couple of weeks, or at most a month (feel free to correct me if this is not what 343 is planning), and then everyone will completely forget about this little Specialization issue. And for those of you saying you will go to CoD Black Ops 2, they had issues too, when Blops 2 first came out, the PS3 servers were down, they couldn’t play at all.
So honestly, this is not that big of a deal, I would love to have gotten the Specializations, but it’s really not a huge issue.
I would disagree with you. I am currently an SR70 (have been for nearly 2 weeks) and have yet to receive my code. I am not concerned with leveling up for the fun of it, but rather so that I can unlock new armor, emblems, and tactical packages. To me, these add a new depth to the game I enjoy. They also provide a fun sense of accomplishment to me when I progress further.
Overall I have tried to stay off the forums while this issue has exploded and have also tried to be patient. The biggest problem to me, is that the game rewards you XP based on actions perfromed (commendations). During my time in Halo purgatory, I have continued to play a game I enjoy, but feel oddly handicapped by the lack of an XP roll over. That is to say, I feel like I am wasting many oppurtunites to help with the leveling just because I was not able to purchase the LE.
During the past 2 weeks or so, I have tried to be patient with 343i and Microsoft. I waited for the November 20th deadline…nothing. I waited then for the 21st, the 30th, the 1st, the 2nd, the 3rd, and now the 4th. I have tried to keep a level head about this, but this continued prolonging of the email date is becoming incredibly frustrating. Add to that the fact that many may be overlooked simply because they didn’t want to be spammed with MS ads is unacceptable. While this code/email thing was started with the best intentions, it has become a monster. The community as a whole needs a TU or update in general to unlock these ranks for all. If not, my guess is that these forums will continue to be a cesspool of ignorance and rage.

It’s not about the rank on your screen, it’s about getting those game changing perks that come with the specializations.
I wouldn’t care one bit if there were only cosmetic changes past SR70.
a game has to have depth to keep people playing…playing for fun only takes u so far…343 has totally dissappointed me in many ways with this game… i have loved all the halos and they have had a reason to keep playing…halo4 has absolutely no incentive to play after u hit 130 which will happen in less than 2 months for many…so whats to play for after that? im not a casual gamer…im a competitive player…cant believe my favorite franchise of all time is being handled in an unproffesional way…absolutely ridiculous that i want to play halo4 but looks like i will not…will be playing league play on bops2 sadly to say
I agree that the Specializations would make the game a ton more fun. But I think that the whole thing is not as bad as it seems. A whole lot of people have been saying like “I won’t ever buy another Halo game again”, and I’m fairly certain that about 70% of these people aren’t gonna make do on their threats. I do agree that this whole email thing is going terrible, and I think it was possibly one of the worst ways that 343 could have given out the Specializations. They should have either done a Title Update to get it done, or, just make the other Specializations not available until you had finished the two default Specializations, since anyone who didn’t start playing until the 20th, probably isn’t committed enough to max out in ten days.

This posted yesterday on the official twitter is what makes it a big issue. There is no response other than repeating the generic answer. No sign of acknowledgement, no sign of them listening, nevermind caring that there may be an issue or a problem with that.
I have to compare it to Bungie as that’s all we knew of Halo. I would have expected by now an image on the News page of some lawyers teabagging a map of Europe at the least from them.
If they distroy the community in halo 4 and give us no reason to trust the developers then how can they expect us to buy new consoles and games for halo 5?
Yeah its a big deal.
They’ve already tarnished their reputation, I’m hoping they fix this email spec code stuff and redeem themselves, I did all requirements and still no email. I’m also mind blown by how terrible their communication skills are
This is absolutely getting overblown.
The fact that nobody wants to play the game anymore simply for the fun of it is just sad. I just had a nice 3 hour run last night. No trash talk, no worrying on my stats. Just enjoyed the game. And guess what? It was great!
I rarely care about my numbers. I look at my numbers once in a while, go “Oh crap.” and put it out of my mind. It’s nothing to me. That’s how it should be.
Gaining XP is fun, but it’s an obsessive to the major component to the majority of the community. And it’s sad really. Whatever happened to the days of just playing Mario just for the hell of it. No speed runs, nothing.
