Specializations, is it worth getting early?

Seeing as you need to get to max rank to use these specializations, what is the point of getting them early?
I’m pretty sure nobody who is legit will get to rank 50 in the first month, kinda pointless really, 343 said they will add the other 6 specializations later, that later probably going to be around a month or two after launch, and i sure as hell wont be max rank by then. Isn’t it then rather pointless having it as a LE bonus?

What do you guys think?

Nah. The default two don’t work for me.

I would rather go for one of the others first. Having it already unlocked for me saves a lot of time.

Why? you need to get to max rank to use it anyway, by the time you get to max rank 343 will probably unlock it for everyone.

Can’t LE buyers get all specialisations early, but normal buyers have to wait till when ever you would normally get them?

Well the thing is, I want to be able to start working toward the stupid imbalanced ones as soon as possible, so that I can wreck players who are using the default ones. That way 343i will understand just how stupid most of these specializations are and will re-balance them or remove them from matchmaking.

I mean, honestly? Not being unzoomed when shot? Really?

meh, I will be using the two vehicle based ones, Operator and Pathfinder, then I will go for Rouge just so i can get the carbine skin.

the others will come out months after the initial release apparently. So I cant complain.

And I imagine some people will no-life the game after launch till they hit max.

I like having all the options from the get go because I’m not sure if I want to use the 2 defaults.

343i is going to activate the rest, one as a time, as a certain amount of people get to 50. I say it’s worth getting early.

How is that imbalanced? while you’re zoomed you move slower, i could sprint jump over your head and assasinate you by the time you turn around, the only thing it’s OP with is the sniper, but the sniper is a power weapon anyway, you still need to work to get the sniper.

> I like having all the options from the get go because I’m not sure if I want to use the 2 defaults.

But you have to get to max rank to use any of them, by the time you get to max rank 343 will probably have released them all for everyone.

David ellis said they will release the other 6 for everybody 1 month after release, i HIGHLY doubt you will be max rank by then, therefore wasting your money buying the LE, as you didn’t even get to use them early.

Do you even know how long it takes to get max rank?

When did he say 1 month after release? It was my understanding they would be released one at a time, as the community hit certain milestones. Therefore if I no-life, hit Rank 50 before most of the population, I can then choose a specialization that unless you have the LE you can’t choose. Seems legit.

Not to mention, even if you take out the early access to the 6 specializations, you still get the map packs, which 2,000msp for otherwise, the FuD 90-minute extended cut, the swag, and everything else. Seems like a good value to me.

Do me a favor real quick.

Grab halo reach.

Insert the disk.

Get two controllers.

Start up a custom split screen on forge world.

Go to one wall in the Colosseum.

Walk both players foward until you hit the other wall.

Have one of the players zoomed while doing this.

Now tell me, which one got there first? Unless you screwed up, they got there at the same time. You do not move slower while zooming. Where the hell did you get that from? That is how it works in COD, but not halo.

Furthermore, why would anybody zoom in when they are withing “sprint-jump-assassinate” range? You zoom in to deal with mid-long range.

Now as for why it is OP: Do you know why 90% of mid range fights are done unzoomed? It isn’t because it is too hard to zoom during the battle. It is because you get shot out of zoom if you try it. Now if I can zoom without getting knocked out of it, then I will win most of my mid range battles because I have the advantage of being able to shoot while zoomed in.

This may not make a difference when it comes to noobs, but anybody who plays at a Halo 3 40 or higher level will be able to utilize this to completely dominate the competition without any trouble at all.

And that isn’t even talking about what it does to the sniper. The sniper is the weapon that will be most effected. Tell me, have you ever gone up against a really good sniper that completely shut down everything your team was doing by himself? Chances are you have.

Now imagine that same guy with the ability to stay zoomed with sniper.

Now imagine that plus the package that allows you to have radar when zoomed in.

Are you starting to see why this might be hilariously imbalanced yet? If you are any good at this game you should be able to see it.

I myself am not geting the LE only for that bonus… I want the map-packs and the extended movie/online series thing. If the specializations is the only reason you’re thinking of buying LE then i’d say it’s a waste of money.

If you were any good at the game you’d know snipers are never really that big of a problem. Never, maybe in a 1v1 if you’re terrible, but not in a team game if you know what you’re doing. Point invalid.

Its not pointless. Many of the other ones that you don’t start with if you don’t get LE suit my playstyle. but the first 2 for everyone really don’t.

oh and call it “level 50” because there is a ranking system that is not progression based. this level 50 has been confirmed via twitter to be progression based.

Is not pointless at all.
Let’s say a month after release day, 343i makes all specializations available, well, you’re still one month ahead of everyone who didn’t purchase the LE.
Because they’re gonna start from zero at any of the other six Specializations, while you’ll be level Bronze or Silver or whatever.

The only way purchasing LE becomes pointless, is if you choose either Wetwork or Pioneer, since these two specializations will be available to EVERYONE at launch day.

One month after, when the other six specializations are available, you will be on zero level just like everyone else (standard edition customers).

**NOTE: I don’t know when the rest of the specializations will be available, I’m using “one month” only as an example. Just to explain my point.
