For one: They provide nothing for the gameplay, I constantly beat Specialized Spartans with their nifty super powers.
For two: Only two are usable without the email-process BS.
Why the hell are these part of the game?

That’s the point, they’re not supposed to make a player better, they’re only supposed to give you more options. They’re just another interesting way to unlock stuff.
They’re not supposed to give you a huge advantage over other players
that would make the game severely unbalanced

Because…
…I have no idea on how to support them. No idea.
They should have never be created; or just made available for everybody.
I have the Limited Edition, and got access to my choice of all the specializations. I have to say that the two everyone gets anyway (Wetwork and Operator) are by far the most useful.

Agreed they are just there to allow you to play more toward your style, after all does having unlimited sprint make you better? no, how about more grenades? no, its all about customization.

Part 1:
Give me one quote from 343 that they were suppose to add super powers.
You have mistaken their goal. You have shown that you are ignorant to the purpose of them.
Part 2:
Only two are usable without being email for right now. At this point in time.
Go do some research.

Yes, they’re here to let the player move in the direction they want to that more fits their playing style.
What super powers?
The whole point is to not crazily unbalance the game. That wouldn’t be fun for the vast majority of players to get dominated by that one guy who just happened to be playing for longer than them.
Remember when Halo didn’t have a bajillion class mods and perks?
Mhm. They’re supposed to provide little benefits, not huge overpowering ones.
343 is going in the right direction, you guys have to remember that this is 2012 and not 2001, there is a lot of competition out there and I am not referring to CoD.
Let the details work themselves out, and stop with the moaning and groaning, you sound like a bunch of spoiled children, assuming you know why Halo was even great to begin with… lack of competition.
I say this game is going in the intended direction and mind you the first time I played Halo was on a demo, The Silent Cartographer, and back then the Xbox was just a baby.

@1:
So being able to see your previous assailant and go blood-hunting isn’t a super power? Better XP? Better drops? Unbalancing, and super.
@2: With LE you can use 8, and the 2 currently usable are the most useful.
All of them suck, not even Operator is nice you still get stun with emp and vehicle’s HP is still the same so they are just to give you some nice armor and visors
Trust me you will want the rogue spec on the LR and when picking up a sniper rifle, it makes a big difference.
They are there to provide flavour, deal with it.
I don’t even know why they are locked to being with.
I don’t know I put in the Wheelman specialization and I got hit by and EMP today, drove right through it and managed to swing around and splatter an entire legion of grunts without really losing a beat.
> I don’t even know why they are locked to being with.
Because LE owners were given limited access to them early.
> All of them suck, not even Operator is nice you still get stun with emp and vehicle’s HP is still the same so they are just to give you some nice armor and visors
It states that Operator gives you slightly more durability. Not a WHOLE TON MORE. And it also states that your EMP time is decreased. To be honest, I love the fact it lasts only maybe 1 to 2 seconds instead of more. Helps a lot. The fact you haven’t noticed these says something.

I know that. What I was trying to say was it makes no sense to me to have them locked to begin with. Stopping people from progressing in the game seems kinda stupid to me. They are showing you the middle finger because you didn’t get the limited edition and paid 50$ more just to be able to rank up. I can’t remember any game that’s made you pay extra money to be able to rank up.
