When all of this hooplah over specializations hit yesterday, I was under the impression that these new specialization mods would be a third mod to your Spartan, along with one Tactical Package and one Support Package. However, thanks to clarification by David Ellis on NeoGaf, this is not the case.
As it turns out, these spec. mods are nothing more than 8 new Tactical and Support Packages that you can unlock. Once you unlock them, they become options for these Packages. Now, I’m wondering why this forum went absolutely ballistic over this. If Tac/Support Packages didn’t make people declare that Halo is dead way back when they were announced, then why exactly is 8 more of the same thing pushing them over the edge? To be fair, I’m aware that a couple of these could be exploited in certain combinations and I hope 343 does some heavy thinking into them, but in the end, they are just more options for our Tac/Support packages that provide very slight alterations to our playstyle.
I just wanted to provide some clarity to you fellow forum-goers who still don’t know this. If the announcement of Tac/Support Packages didn’t break the game for many of you, then why has 8 more of them done so?
Thanks so much for posting that link. I didn’t know that the mods were just extra tactical/support packages. That helps balance things out even further. I don’t really have any worries anymore. It seems like it is going to be a long time before anyone can actually rank all the way up through a specialization and the mods don’t appear to give any kind of crazy, asymmetrical advantage.
Also, that link proved that 1-50 is back. It may be invisible (still not totally confirmed), and it may work differently than H3, but I’m glad it’s back.
> Too bad no one gets to see this. (too many hate-threads)
I know right? I really don’t understand why people jump to conlusions so quickly when they have little to no knowledge on what they’re raging over. It’s like they’re looking for reasons to hate this game or declare it dead

Glad I could be of service. Now, if everyone else who doesn’t know this would just take the time to read.
Exactly. What a lot of people do not understand is that specializations are trade offs. You will have to sacrifice using a tactical package like Firepower or Shielding in order to use a specialization. The same goes with the support packages, like Awareness and Mobility.
At the end of the day, none of the specializations, tactical packages, or support packages are game breaking. Just game enhancing, and in a very minor yet player specific way.
Any sane person that actually read multiple articles, instead of screaming “NOOO BAD!”, should understand what they are. I think a lot of the hate is coming from the lack of explanation over some of the Specializations b.c. lets get serious… there are a certain 2 that are completely bullshite, unfair and ruin Halo’s fairness/gameplay, ok ruin might be too harsh a word but I can’t think of another. (Maybe they won’t but from the few details we have of Stalker and Rogue it seems like they are just bad for Halo)

Yes, they are options for your Tac/Support Packages. We don’t know yet if these spec. mods are pre-determined as either Tac or Support packages when you unlock them, or if you can choose what they are. I would bet that they’re pre-determined.
Say, for instance, you have Firepower equipped as a Tactical Package (I don’t know if it’s a Tac or Support) but you want to equip your new Wetworks mod, which is also a Tactical Package. You would have to swap Firepower for Wetworks. All of the spec. mods are basically swappable Tac/Support Packages.
Thanks OP, for trying to make a positive stance amongst those too shortsighted to realize they already knew this was coming.
After all, it had already been announced just not detailed…

No problem at all. Please spread the word on this forum about this if you can. It would go a long way to clear up the confusion and misconceptions that are plaguing this place.
Now that I have seen the mods. Does anyone think that if there is a auto sentry AA, you will have the option to remove the turret and use it like a regular turret?
People are unhappy for some reason when we already have Tactical and Support packages that already have gameplay changing effects (being able to carry two primary weapons).
I’m honestly excited about this! I mean I just look at it as I now get to choose how I level up and what I get to unlock first. Cause ultimately I’ll have everything unlocked.
Thanks a bunch for posting this but i was wondering can you put put the tactical/support upgrades you earn on any load-out or just the one you earned it in?
Sweet mother of god. This is good and very informative news. Thank you OP. (why were people freaking out if they were just an added ability like support and tactical packages?)
