I received the email late last night and clicked redeem. For some reason I was logged into xbox.com already with an old account that I haven’t used since 2007 (but it is my main email address) I accidently clicked ‘redeem code’ onto that account and now am not sure what to do. I called xbox.com and they have advised me to post here, and the 343 forums. Not sure what can be done, but if one was to look at the history on the account it has been redeemed on, you can see that no game has been played since 2007, and the account has been silver since then.

If you still have that account on your console, then eventually, you’ll be able to use all the Specializations on any account.
