Specialisations are for the hardcore players

The players who pour hundreds of hours into multi-player its an reward for them. Don’t worry because the players who haven’t reached those levels will not be playing against the players who have. Balance issues will not be a problem because all the best players with specialisations will be playing against each other, players like myself who will never reach those levels won’t have to worry about them.

How do you know that balance issues wont be a problem? Have you played the game yet?

> How do you know that balance issues wont be a problem? Have you played the game yet?

I don’t but everyone who has these new abilities will be playing against each other, so they will all have access to these abilities. That in its self will stop anyone dominating with one particular combination of abilities as all will be able to use them. If you haven’t reached the top levels you won’t be up against anyone using specialisations.

Yes, but how do you know the system of matching players will actually work?
The True Skill system is supposed to have been doing that for years and it’s never really worked properly. Not in my experience anyway.

And there’s always the danger that one or more of the specialisations will be overpowered., thus leading to an inbalance despite the skill matching system.

That’s what worries me. Like Promethean vision. I’ve seen gameplay of it and it needs nerfing, badly.

SPECIALISATIONS ARE JUST TACK PACKS AND ARMOUR MODS!!! SO EVERYONE WILL HAVE THEM, JUST NOT CERTAIN ONES, SO IT WILL BE FAIR

blarg…

Well if 343 can nail the match making side of things then it won’t be a problem, but only time will tell. PV is something if it is overpowered that will affect all of us from day 1 and that would be a major problem, however I’m fairly confident that it won’t be, fingers crossed.

Only players who have reached the highest level will have access to these, so not everyone will have them.

PV itself is fine…it’s the range. I’ve only seen it on a small map (can’t remember the name) but it was covering half the map.

I guarantee you’ll be fighting the exact opposite side of this argument when you’re getting spawn killed in BTB against “high rankers” and you can’t do anything because they all have specialization’s and you don’t.

I see no real issue with any of them, so long as the one (escapes my mind) that allows a player to stay in zoom, has a duration/only used on loadout weapons.

Like I said if 343 get match making right then that won’t be an issue, but if they don’t then you could be right.

you are not listening, you are correct, but they will have access to OTHER armour mods and tack packs so they will still have other advantages, specialisations just add amour mods and tack packs, they are not another perk system they just add to these ones

Not sure about duration but from what I’ve gathered it’s any weapon with a scope.

Hmm, hopefully they disable it for power weapons.

Let’s hope that they get the ranking system right. It’s a gamble though. Things will be like Reach in terms of matching skill if it doesn’t work.

Here’s the description from the Halo 4 site. I added the emphasis:

Facilitating relatively minor adjustments in an armor system’s HUD-distributed display mechanics, the Awareness Upgrade integrates the default motion sensor into all known scoped weapon smart-links, both native and exotic. Spartans engaging in long-range combat or sniper operations often rely on this upgrade to provide them with basic motion-sensor data while sighting an enemy from afar.

Of course AA’s and other mods will be available from the start but the specialisations is what everyone is talking about at the moment. It’s those teamed up with the other mods which are available from the start that has people concerned about balance issues. My point is that you only get those extra mods if you put in a lot of hours into the game, and you should only go up against high level players if you are one yourself, meaning it would be a level playing field.

Oh, that wasn’t the one I was talking about though. I was referring to the one that allows you to stay in scope while being shot. Kind of like what they had built into the game at the e3 showcase.

That mod once again isnt a major issue to me. At higher level play its going to be useless.

There’s a difference between your progression rank and your skill level.

If the matchmaking system works, you will be matched with people of about the same skill level, regardless of their progression rank. This means that people with a high skill level and a low progression rank can get matched up with people with a high skill level and a high progression rank. Even though both players are on the same skill level, one will have an advantage because he has a higher progression rank and more items available. That is unbalanced.
