Special effects for Spartan armor

Something I would like to see is after taking a certain amount of damage, the players armor starts to crack in different spots, until their armor is use less. And when you die, the armor is back to its original state. It would give new players a way to get kills from more skilled players, instead of being easy kills, getting wrecked, and quitting the game permanently.

I sort of understand where you’re coming from but what does seeing the armor crack and break have anything to do with skill?

Having the armor break apart might sound neat as a visual effect, but as a gameplay element, I’m going to have to disagree with that entirely. That just sounds like the Halo CE Health system, except you’re never allowed to have shields or health packs again after taking damage. That doesn’t separate the skill bracket, that just gives new players free kills, and doesn’t offer them a chance to actually improve their playstyle to try to stack up against the opponents they have trouble with.

Aesthetically, it’s a cool thought that brings back bittersweet memories of Lone Wolf in the Reach campaign. But for it to affect player traits in anyway beyond simply the visual? I am not at all in favor of that. And if it were something that could mess up your HUD like in Lone Wolf, that’d go from being an awesome novelty to an intolerable recurrence in no time flat if it happened every time your health got bit into beyond your shields.

You mean your armour would slowly degrade making it easier to kill you? I could see that implemented in a mode but I would not want that for general gameplay.
