This is a change that should really be made. Not only is Spartan Jerome (as Cutter’s hero) the worst spartan, but he also makes absolutely no sense with Commander Jerome being in the game. He’s simply a redundancy at this point.
Now, what does Cutter specialize in? ODSTs. And what is the squad from Spearbreaker? An incredibly buffed up ODST squad. It would make perfect sense for them to be Cutter’s hero unit. Now that we see how the squad actually works with Spearbreaker (one single squad of units, not individuals like I had expected), they’d be a simple add in switcheroo for multiplayer. Give them upgrades that unlock more weapons varieties in the squad, and they’re good to go. The final upgrade state could basically be what we play with in the campaign- a very heavily offensive unit; but with no shield.
Please, 343, make this change. It shouldn’t be TOO hard to implement, it would make sense, and it would let us see the AWESOME squad from Spearbreaker outside of the campaign. There is no reason this shouldn’t be implemented.
I agree that ODST squad is better than Jerome, the downside is that I don’t think they woul remove a unit from the game and the ODSTs didn’t have any upgrade… I could see them as a deployable hero like Omega or Decimus.

To be fair, the spartans didn’t have upgrades in the campaign either; they started at their max upgrade level. I feel like having the upgrades add the specialized squad members (drone, sniper, rocket launcher) would be a good way around this.

Yes, but the Spartans were on the core game, the visual changes for the upgrades were there, I don’t think they did the same here, meaning that there would be some extra coding involved.

But it would be an easy, and in demand, fix to make. That’s what I’m asking for here.
Yes they should really be added. It’s kinda pointless having Jerome as cutters hero when he’s his own leader with a completely different version of himself as a hero
Just had another thought, and I sadly don’t think that this will happen… For two reasons… (Not very solid reasons, but enough to probably not have the ODSTs become heros)
One it wouldn’t make sense for those who didn’t purchase the season pass. The vanilla UNSC characters all have one spartan each as heros and it would be weird for them to see the ODST Boomarang Squad as a hero.
And two remember how the Spartan-Hog wasn’t implemented from the first mission in the campaign? Yeah… Awesome hero idea, but unfortunately that didn’t make the cut either…
This being said I really am for the Cutter Jerome-ODST switch. I really really reaaaally hope they switch them. Not sure how hard coding this in would be, but my guess is hard enough for 343 to not get up and go out of their way to make the switch.

Personally I thought 3 Spartans in a Warthog would be overpowered to all hell that’s why they didn’t do it. Can you imagine Alice with the chain gun, Douglas with area of effect rockets, and then Jerome ramming into things. I think the Warthog was much larger too.
