It would be good in certain gametypes, because it’s just another thing going on for the engine that may be unneccesary where we could experience frame rate lag. And then it also gives up much easier what location you’re spawning, and what would you do about indoor maps like Arena Zealot and Ivory… ermm Reflection :P.
It’s a very good idea dont get me wrong, i just don’t see much practicality to it and it would get really old after a while and just be a waste of system resources.
I think the drop pod idea is pretty cool, but you have to think about it more in detail.
are both teams going to be in drop pods during spawn?
Will the Pelicans be shot down during a spawn?
What’s stopping the opposing team from camping spawn points?
really cool idea, but it needs to be thought out more
Ah, so you’re thinking of the spawn system from Section 8?
Pretty good idea, to be honest. It’d help prevent spawn trapping quite well - in the first instance, teams should only be able to deploy to their own spawn areas, meaning they can’t slip behind the enemy base and set up a spawn box; and in the second, it would enable a more dynamic spawn system that prevents a team from being camped at all. Plus, you’d be able to plan team drops from the initial spawn to give weapon securing a more tactical edge.
Follow that up with a short cooldown period from spawn to prevent drop-camping, and I think this could work out somewhat well.
And before people start: Section 8 and the sequel, Section 8: Prejudice both run fine on the X360. No framerate issues whatsoever.
Great idea for custom games. I don’t care what it is, it all adds to the customisation of the best custom games on any game. I’d even like to see armour lock back in Halo 4 custom games. All these things come in useful depending on the type of map you want to make. And I think coming in on a drop pod or crashing pelican in Halo 4’s custom games infection would be really cool.
it should only be in invasion becuase think of it like this if you were playing on a map like rat’s nest or sword base where the spwans are inside how would using a drop pod or pelican work and I do not want a map to be totally rebooted from being a good map just to fit a gimmick we don’t really need

As a Custom Game option that is disabled by default, this would be pretty cool – particularly if we can plan out the ships’ movement paths in Forge.
(I suspect that the functionality already exists; Boneyard and Spire both contain several objects that resemble, but aren’t, Respawn Zones. The objects appear to loosely follow the paths of the dropships in those maps, and seem to be stored using the Forge file format (and are only visible in Forge), despite not being alterable. The upshot of all of which is that the functionality for controlling dropship paths in Custom Games already exists; it just isn’t publicly usable. It could be made so in Halo 4.)
i’m assuming that this system would apply only to certain gametypes/maps and such
like Firefight or invasion
it would be pretty awesome
the first time I played the intro cutscene in ODST, riding in the pod, i just WISHED MY -Yoink- OF that it would be added into firefight someday
its friggen awesome, i’m dissapointed that they didn’t add it to firefight yet
and for the pelicans, i’m thinking that, if you were playing co-op firefight the pelican thing would be cool as a reinforcements, which i also add, 3434 should add the ability to have Marine Reinforcements, to make epic battles (yes, i understand that its in Installation 04, but i want more epicness, 3 ODST’s and a warthog is boring
OT: when you die, you’re not allowed to respawn until a weapon drop, then you respawn in a pelican, filled with marines heading into the map,
and in invasion, it would be interesting… but 343 should defenetly consider the idea
A good idea, it works well in Section 8: Prejudice (Never played the first one).
Maybe have this idea in certain playlists, like Invasion, which in my opinion this would fit greatly, have for example, the Sangheili defend and the Spartans drop in from the sky but have it fixed so the Spartans can’t go past a certain area, kinda like Section 8: Prejudice where if you drop in too close to an area a AA turret will take you out.
