Devs and Pros seem to be fond of spawn killing. In Halo maps, lots of spawn points set on opening spots without any protection, devs and some builders never think of changing this dumb design.
On maps such as Valhalla/Viking, The Pit, Truth, Regret and a lot, when you respawn, immediately facing sniper on center hill or BRs not far away. Devs must think it’s fun to watching you be killed 3 times in a row at the same spawn point after 2 seconds (yes, my case in Viking outside base in Halo 5).
Some people said it’s part of map control, no, it’s just stupid .
In Halo Infinite maps showed, this design continues. Why not:
Don’t respawn at those initial/first-time spawn points in opening area?
Place respawn points inside the room or at the corner with protection?
1.5-2 second overshield/invincible/drop-shield, for us to react when facing spawn killers and dumb design?
Respawn with 2 seconds preview to know your location in battlefield.
I got raged about this issue for years since Halo 2. But stupid respawn points by devs and Forge builders again and again. H5 no change, 6 years later Halo Infinite no change.
halo spawns you with your teammates, who should be able to secure a safe area. if your team is getting so floored that you cant even group up with your teammates then that’s how the cookie crumbles.

Sorry no, teammates were alive and I respawned beside my base, the design issue. Just go to Forge to check Valhalla/Viking and you know what happened.
Spawn killing used to really bother me but now, I just make it a goal of mine to get that sucker for the sake of the team. Sure my KD goes down but once you stop caring about that and just enjoy the game, it makes playing all the better. Don’t get me wrong, I still play to win but I don’t stress over the sample stuff anymore. Guess being a “boomer” has it’s perks lol
I can see spawn traps being a problem on BTB maps if players are being spawned 50 meters from cover in any direction, particularly if they aren’t given a BR to spawn with to contest against snipers and other ranged weapons.
On smaller maps though, true spawn traps will only ever occur when there is a significant skill gap between the two teams. In this case, I see no problem with spawn trapping occurring, as it only accelerates the game in the direction it was always going to conclude in the first place. Learning how to push out of spawn traps and how to break set ups is also what makes Halo fun imo.
I used to hate how ‘classic’ halo degenerated into a rush for map position and then complete and utter domination of high ground, spawn points, power weapons, and equipment. It quickly became tedious.
But now we have faster base movement and some movement options (sprint, slide, and clamber). Plus some movement based equipment to help break things up).
Just the maps being a bit bigger helps. There will be more protected spawn points. The maps we’ve played so far have plenty of corridors / rooms / levels… so there should be heaps of relatively safe spawn points.
And if we need to go another step… maybe the ability to choose your own spawn point… or to briefly delay your re-entry. Mucking up the timing of the spawn campers could be helpful.
Eh. I think if you are getting spawn killed it’s usually because you are being out played by a team. It takes actual knowledge a skill to get people in that position. I agree it’s slightly outdated though.
