In my opinion in Halo 5 Spartans are better presented like some kind of "Super Soldiers"then in previous games. And that is by including sprint, boosters, spartan charge, ground pound and slide.Cause before you were different in comparison to other soldiers just by having shields and you could fall from greater heights.

Maybe in games, but definitely not in the books
Maybe they do, but canon shouldn’t define gameplay.

Other than Armor abilities from H4 or Reach (I forget). You named everything terrible about the new halo games. IMO
H3 ftw

And yet going by halo 4,they seem undisciplined and arrogant
I’ve been a halo fan for awhile, I would only really play halo for the story, I was never a fan of the multiplayer but reach was the first halo multiplayer I’ve really enjoyed and actually played. Halo 5, in my opinion has great gameplay. I understand why a lot of people say that halo 5 isn’t halo because the gameplay is drastically different from what a lot of halo fans consider the “golden age” of halo.

I agree with you gameplay wise it isnt so good, its a bit 2 fast paced but given more experimentation and time 343 could make a good balance of combat in future Halo games.Look how they made more open maps with these new abilites in Halo 5 in comparison to Halo 4 linear maps.

Yeah i also find Spartan IV-s arrogant since Fireteam Majestic and now Fireteam Osiris.Good that Spartan II-s Blue Team is not that way at least. And i find Spartan II-s Red Team are a mixture between

Define, no. Strongly influence, yes. As much as I love Halo 3, it’s mobility was really sad, and Halo 5’s is a far better representation of what Spartans have been capable of since the very first books in the franchise.

I agree. And I think people are far too hung up on their nostalgia for the OT. The old movement mechanics were all well and good for their time, and are still fun to play within reason, but FPS gameplay has evolved since then. Can you imagine the stink that would happen if a brand new AAA game with a far-future setting featuring super-solders only had them move at a brisk jog at maximum? It would be laughed off the scene.

Definitely. Halo 3 feels horribly sluggish compared to every other game in the franchise. I quite like Halo 5’s mobility.
They were super-soldiers before 343’s era. Now, they’re closer to superheroes. I mean, compare the opening of The Fall of Reach novel to the opening of Halo 5 guardians. You’ve got to admit, what the S-IIs pulled off on Jericho VII was way cooler than the nonsense that was Halo 5 - rather than just jumping out of a Pelican and making like the bloody Avengers, they planned their moves carefully, came up with multiple layers of fallback planning, moved around like ghosts - but by the time they were done, they hadn’t succeeded in killing a few dozen Covenant. They’d killed thousands, with just the use of a few rockets, explosive charges and some shredder ammunition.

While that scene in the book might not be to the liking of what Osiris did in Halo 5’s opening, there were other “out there” things that have been done by Spartans.
Chief slapping a missile off-course in FoR.
Linda sniping speeding Banshee pilots out of their crafts will hanging upside down only using one hand in FS.
Spartan-IIIs attacking a Covenant facility en masse by running across an open field and ripping through the defenders in GoO.
Halo has had it’s calm, collected strategic moments as well as the action-packed moments. I don’t really see anything becoming more superhero-y than what’s been shown before. Especially when we remember a certain scene in Halo 2…

Oi! Leave that alone. That’s some classic Halo shenanigans.

Actually, now I have a moment, I call massive -Yoink- on what you’re saying. Sure, what Chief did was impressive, but it wasn’t jumping out of a Pelican and flying down a cliff, making a massive target of himself. It was daring, not stupid.

My good man, I loved that scene in Halo 2. But let’s take a gander at that scene:
- Chief gets sucked out of the ODP while holding onto a bomb - Conveniently misses any space debris floating around in a massive battle - Conveniently misses the large exploding human cruiser and pulse laser fire - Has a CAS-class cruiser conveniently cross the exact path Chief is going - Has Longswords bombard the exact spot where Chief needs to get through (Also, mind you, he didn’t tell anyone what he was doing) - Then, upon reactivation of the bomb, has the perfect trajectory to leave the cruiser and hit the passing In Amber Clad. That is certainly a scene to make you go “Awesome!” but when you really delve into it, the outlandishness starts to show.
I think the new ones seem more like superheroes than supersoldiers. They seem to get over the top in many cases and bright illuminating armors just make it more clear.
also, there seems to be no much militaristic left to the spartans and they seem to be about feelings more than before.
I prefer the older, more military type of SPARTANs.
and btw. About the ground pound. Imagine how many superheroes jump from high places and land like the newer spartans do to the ground with one fist to the ground.

Well to be fair, the majority of them are convicts I believe.

Er… no. The majority of Spartan-IVs are decorated veterans of the Human-Covenant War. The rest are results of nepotism (Madsen) or being some kind of super genius or something like that (Vale).
