Spartans and recoil

Considering the fact that Spartans are super humans and with all their augmentations and high tech armor how on earth is there any recoil when they shoot a gun let alone a SMG?! They can move tanks and fall through the atmosphere!! Can’t swim though…

This isn’t a complaint, because I totally get why we have gun recoil for the game. I just always found it funny.

So…lets imagine the real world’s strongest man fires a gun. I would expect him to experience gun recoil.
Even a rigid mounted gun would shake the supports when fired. There just isn’t getting around that force passed to the gun.

Newton’s laws!

It is called physics. Pretty cool stuff actually. Just because they are stronger doesn’t mean they can defy physics. Although, Master Chief can fall from orbit multiple times and just dust himself off…

It really doesn’t matter if the person shotting has an inhumanly strong arm strength or a device on the gun that suppresses recoil, the gun is gonna have some spread due to the heating and rotations of the bullets in the chamber. It is only a gameplay thing that depicts 100% accurate bullet weapons not factoring in weather and condition of the firearm.

Can flip an extremely heavy tank.

Can’t control gun recoil.

lol @ game logic.

the force of the bullets cause the recoil, strength or not, equal and opposite reaction

And flip an overturned scorpion without even touching it

Ahh sorry didn’t see you already pointed that out

X-men confirmed?

Being a super solider does matter. I will be affected much more by the recoil (physics) of a SMG than a Spartan. The ability to anchor a weapon to control the recoil to an extent is all part of physics!!

It is a video game so physics don’t matter.

It does not.
What matters in the first place, is proper weapon sandbox balancing, something 343i accomplished pretty well with this title.

realism =/= gameplay

Ugh, it’s a bloody video game, it does not simulate realism. Why do these people still obsess that they have to feel like a Spartans in their video games? Was this a thing during Halo 3, this whole " I need to feel like a Spartan"? Gameplay > realism.

On a brighter note, the reason that there is recoil in Halo, despite the super soldier status of your virtual avatar, is for balancing reasons. Otherwise, people would place the aiming reticle on an enemy and hold the trigger until the enemy is dead.

Yup, that’s how shooting at people works

because its about gameplay, not some wrong real lofe comparisions.

No, I’m saying that, without the visual recoil, the moving of the gun upwards, this game would have even less skill than it does currently. Having autos act like laser beams breaks the balance.

Hah!
It’s the Chief =)

… I never said I wanted the game to be life like… I love how the game works

Also, in terms of recoil and physics. The ability to control recoil can be directly due to the strength of a person. The physics of the recoil doesn’t change, I agree, but slowing down the upward motion of the recoil does. For example, an adult man will be able to shoot an automatic gun quicker and with more accuracy than a 8 year old child. The physics of the gun stays the same, but the mans strength gives him the ability to control the recoil. I really don’t understand why that is so hard to understand…

I regret making this silly post…

Turn off vibration = no recoil… lol
