The only reason I find Legendary unreasonable is because higher difficulties do nothing for experience earned.
Other than the chance of finding more abundance of certain enemies for Commendations, there is no EXP based reason to play on anything but Easy or Normal.
If I’m going to grind something that likes to violate me sideways, I’d like to atleast earn more than when I violate them sideways.
> This is a different topic, but the weapon de-spawning -especially in Spartan Ops and Campaign at higher difficulties… It makes me really sad that 343 would rather have a bit better lighting or graphic fidelity(though the 360 is very much showing its age now -especially with Halo 4) than probably more enjoyable(and variation in) gameplay with a longer weapon and enemy de-spawner timer. I don’t find it AS much a problem in multiplayer because that is more fast paced and such, but it still hurs me… Every other Halo has had quite long(from what I remember) weapon and body de-spawner, but 4’s hurts me every time I try to go back to my dead body in legendary SpOps and 20 secs after I died last, everything’s already gone.
The reason weapons despawn so quickly is because of Ordnance. With so many power weapons being on the map, 343i decided to have weapons quickly despawn so it wouldn’t be a power weapon Yoink-fest. This, of course, can go negative at times, in some gametypes, Spartan Ops definitely being one of them.
OT: Spartan Ops Legendary Solo isn’t hard overall. Just use the DMR, Plasma Pistol, Autosentry, and Ammo. And take your time.
The DMR allows you to get headshots, and deal with enemies at all ranges.
The Plasma Pistol allows you to easily deal with shielded enemies, and to a lesser extent, vehicles.
The Autosentry helps damage enemies, and will distract enemies (like those snipers you’re having trouble with). If you know a sniper is around the corner, just place the Autosentry around the corner. This AA helps a lot; Don’t underestimate it like most people on these forums do.
Ammo obviously allows you to have much more ammo for both your DMR and Plasma Pistol.
Oh, and be thankful the Legendary Snipers don’t act like Halo 2’s. Be very thankful.
Yeah I do use the Autosentry, but I don’t use it as much as I should because of being shot at when putting it up…
And my main motivations of completing SpOps on Legendary is seeing and knowing I completed it(the hard thing that it is), and for the Classified glyph Legendary SpOps code that gives XP and such…

With unlimited lives its easy. Anything without a shield is 1 shot and anything with shields just needs a plasma pistol.
Yeah I played the first 3 episodes on Legendary by myself to unlock the Raider DSTT shoulders. It wasn’t fun at all.
> So you want 343i to nerf the baddies on Legendary because you suck?
sigh Here we go again. This is why people don’t make these topics anymore op.

It’s a horrible excuse that made the situation worse IMO. It’s evident the game can’t handle all of the load so 343i had to do some prioritization (in a bad way). The game plays free of lag (except on Co-op) but nearly everything deloads at a faster rate. It’s amazing Spartan Ops can manage it’s high enemy numbers but I’m guessing it’s because most of it is simple scripting (i.e. enemies rush player).
H2 Jackal snipers are overrated. They were often in one place, very linear. Easy headshots, there wasn’t much pressure when dealing with them.
The Jackal snipers in Halo 4 can be seen spread out or in a position where you’re screwed or doomed to respawn in. And you have a bunch of Elites with concussion rifles or fuel rod guns assisting them.

I haven’t touched Legendary for a long time. I only play it for weird AI quirks or if there’s allied Spartans or Marines.

Heck yeah! Have you heard of megabattles? They were the best in CE because how you could customize the playing field and eliminate unwanted enemies before the battle.
You can now do the same in Halo 3, but it’s slower because the enemies are dumb sponges and Chief is an old man (but he can still jump well). But if it’s a bunch of Grunts with Catch on, it can get pretty hectic.
Halo 2 also has these kinds of battles and it’s even more enjoyable due to it’s <mark>diverse, distinct skull selection</mark>. The current skull selection defines a Mythic experience but for Spartan Ops, I’d have liked to see skulls, especially some fun and/or advantageous skulls like in Halo 2.

Clearly you haven’t played Halo 2 Legendary in quite a while. Go load up the level Outskirts and have fun in the alleys…
Yeah, they spawn as the same location every time (just like Spartan Ops), but the main things are their accuracy and reactions.
If you mess up in the slightest, you’re dead.
If you miss, you’re dead.
If you wait longer than half a second, you’re dead.
If you poke out, you’re dead.
If you’re distracted, you’re dead.
If you didn’t know, you’re dead.
With Halo 4’s, they miss the first shot nearly every time. And when they hit you, it gets rid of your shields. It takes two shots to kill you, and they’re easy to kill. They’re reaction time is much slower.
And yes, the Halo 4 Jackal Snipers have assist, but Halo 2 Jackal Snipers never needed assists, but when they did have it…
Legendary SpOps is easier than heroic in any of the games. Thanks to the infinite respawns and no loss of progress upon death it’s more in line with the normal difficulty.

It’s only been a month since I last played Halo 2 on Legendary.
all 50 episodes Legendary for RIADER Helmet and XP

Just quoting to tell you your wrong. weapons, bodies, and exploded vehicles despawn so fast to prevent frame rate lag. The graphics of halo 4 push the limits of the console already as is. Heck looking into the sky on exile causes some frame rate lag. There was official word on this awhile ago. It has nothing to do with power weapon spam. If that was the issue dominion would not exist.
> all 50 episodes Legendary for RIADER Helmet and XP
Actually it’s just the first 5 episodes (25 chapters).
DMR
Plasma Pistol
Frags
Regen Field
AA efficiency
Ammo
Problem solved.

Thanks. I am corrected.
Spartan Ops is fun co-op, but it’s a grind solo.
They messed up.
I think it would have done a lot better as a co-op campaign with the checkpoints and respawns system we’ve always hand, along with skulls available for use, and scaling to the number of players. (If scaling is impossible with this game’s engine and code, then roughly 2x the enemies in Campaign)
I have enjoyed the SO missions solo legendary.
My only issue is that , on occassion the respawning makes it impossible to progress.
You are thrown back into the middle of carnage & you just end up constantly dying &
re-spawning in the same place in a rinse/repeat cycle you cannot break.
Other than that & the fact that the Wraiths on SO campaigns are just deadly accurate
with the main fire & even a slight breeze from the fire seems to result in instant death, it is all good.
I snipe the hell out of the missions though wherever possible. DMR & Lightrifle with an auto turret for some added firepower & distraction where needed.
Works pretty well. Maximising the availablity of weapons like FRC & Rocket Launchers when avaialable is also key. Make them count because invariably you can’t find them again when you die!
I don’t think it would be that hard in Spartan Ops, Legendary solo in the campaign was easy.
The only problem I see in Spartan Ops would basically be the enemies not really scaling themselves to how many players are actually playing and the weapons the enemy have, like Fuel Rod Elites and Grunts.
Also on the point of infinite lives, its pretty much like the Campaign. It’d be more challengine if players could enable skulls like Iron.
Also, who uses a plasma pistol for enemies now? Give me a Precision Rifle and an Automatic one and watch me do work. Plasma Pistol are really good at just dealing with vehicles, IMO your just better off having another gun, not a small arm.
Spartan Ops Solo Legendary can be unreasonable. Phantoms and their respective gunners are the most aggravating on Legendary.

Reach Wraiths were worse.
Same here, except I use the plasma pistol when facing Elites. Light Rifle works well on Elites but they rush you and it’s slower than the DMR.
I never bother with power weapons except when dealing with Hunters (even then, the sword does the job better).
> I don’t think it would be that hard in Spartan Ops, Legendary solo in the campaign was easy.
You’re comparing two different, distinct game modes.
> Also, who uses a plasma pistol for enemies now? Give me a Precision Rifle and an Automatic one and watch me do work. Plasma Pistol are really good at just dealing with vehicles, IMO your just better off having another gun, not a small arm.
Firepower might come in handy in MP But in Spartan Ops, it’s really situational. Jetpack is practically worthless without AA Efficiency, Regeneration Field works best with Shielding, etc.
