Looking through the emblems coming with Halo 4’s GotY Edition I noticed something I’d not seen in the past, a Halo 4 version of the Spartan(w. swords) emblem that’s been around since Halo 2. Now, if I want this emblem am I expected to buy the GotY edition as the only way to do that? If so I can’t. But I would gladly pay $1 for it. Gears 3(I don’t know about Judgment) had a good system of 99 cent weapon skin purchases that I didn’t mind at all. I really would not mind paying the dollar. But $40 for exclusive content that not much of the market is going to access(because they already own Halo 4)? I don’t get it…
I highly doubt 343i is going to introduce micro transactions to buy those sort of things. Although if you really want it, you could probably just buy the code on eBay, and it will most likely just be a 1 code for all the unlocks, so you will get all the map packs, all the pre order bonuses, all the LE content (except FOTUS)so you get a lot of in game value for your buck. A code on eBay will probably go for around $20 when the game launches.

This is the official announcement, and I don’t see that emblem anywhere on there. Where did you see it?

That is the emblem I always use since my first halo game!
