Spartan training ground

I’ve recently ran into the issue of trying to introduce this game to a friend that has never played halo, big COD guy, but never halo. He says it looks great and fun but there’s no way he could just jump into. He’s right. I can’t imagine a new comer to halo starting with halo 5 multiplayer. I’ve been playing halo since 2001 and to me this is the fastest most (close if not) competitive halo to date.

I recommend a Spartan training ground in which level 1-5 players must play until they’re above 5. Then start the ranking out process and introduce the full playlist options. This multiplayer would be team slayer 4v4 on a single generic symmetrical map such as coliseum or equivalent forge map.

I know of one potential issues (sure there are more):
Smurfers (the 147 rank onyx player on a free account). Nothing I know could stop this but at least they would rank out quickly.

Next is the argument that this is what campaign is for. Well yes it is and I recommend playing through the campaign to get the movements down, but it doesn’t come close to the arena play in halo 5. Yea it does you got to headshot enemies etc etc. My response is campaign doesn’t touch arena for one big reason (other than the fact your playing against real people) enemies in campaign aren’t throwing frag grenades. Campaign you can and perhaps even encouraged to take cover, that’s not so easy and almost a bad strategy in arena.

I hate seeing potential newcomers turned away simply because the multiplayer is to hard when the fact is they just don’t know how to play it yet.

I would say up to 10, because you go up them ranks pretty fast at first, but it wouldn’t seem like a bad idea to start off with.

10 sounds good. I just cringe at the thought of a totally new halo player jumping into slayer unranked being matched with to-be diamonds or higher. Not that I don’t mind a good newb slaying, but I feel the population could be improved.

Hell, I could use this now, and I’ve been playing a while. It’s hard to get better when you constantly face superior competition. Maybe I don’t understand Halo match making, but from what I’ve seen, it’s not based on skills at all. Even in arena slayer, as a silver, I’m facing high level gold players and above. I’m about ready to call this game quits because of it.

You see a newbie trying a medium range AR 1v1 against a BR. Laughs Shakes head use the BR young Padawan.

I’m platinum and plenty of times I’m up against onyx. This happens to unranked folks just the same. Plenty of times I’ve seen an unranked teammate or enemy and there are onyx and diamond players in the roster. Yes that unranked could be a potential high rank out, but when I seen an unranked level 7 player I think they shouldn’t be in here.

Yea that’s the basic things that campaign can’t teach. A unranked playlist full of newbies could help that out.
