Spartan Time

In the Halo book, First Strike, Spartan Time is referred to as the feeling of time slowing down when Spartans are in a state of distress (paraphrased). I read the book ages ago so I can’t remember what the page number is or who dubs it ‘Spartan Time’.

Do you think this is a feature that should be included in Halo 4’s campaign (Not multiplayer for obvious reasons)? Whenever Master Chief’s shields are depleted and he is close to dying, I think his surroundings should slow down around him. Not too much, that it makes it difficult to be killed and the game becomes easier, but just enough so its noticeable and gives an awesome and interesting visual.

I don’t think it could end up being OP as it can easily be nerfed in terms of how long it lasts and how much the surroundings and enemies slow down.

I think this, or another form of this, would be a great addition to the game as it would really give players the feeling of being a genetically augmented soldier in a super suit.

What does the community think?

It sounds like the last stand mode in cod. I know its Halo canon but it easily resembles that, I don’t compare. In fact I hate comparing but, someone has to. :frowning:

Um how? You’re on the ground using a pistol in CoD Last Stand, this just has time slow down/

Am I the only person whose mind went straight to MC Hammer when reading the title?

Why? Last stand does not slow down time, and you are laying down, with a pistol. It is no where near similar to what he is suggesting, and no, no one has to suggest it. Stop comparing to COD. OP, excellent idea.

This needs to happen!

There are a few canon things like this that could be added to multiplayer. I’ve posted about them many times over at B.net. Here’s a couple…

  1. Spartan Self Destruct. This was used in the books as stopping enemies capturing MJOLNIR or Spartan augmentations etc. The armour would self destruct when the Spartan died. This would be useful in Spartan Ops, Campaign Co-op and Infinity. Imagine you get like 5-15 seconds to recover enemy weapons or grenades or AA’s before they self destruct with your fallen enemy.

  2. MJOLINR Armour Interrupt (Frozen Spartans). All of blue team except Kurt were trapped on an Insurgent floor panel design to lock up MJOLNIR. Again this could become useful in Campaign, Spartan Ops or even Infinity. Imagine a switch activate base defence that halts your enemies in one fixed position for a limited time etc.

  3. Shield Manipulation. From memory Halsey journal has entries about future versions of MJOLNIR where shield configurations can be more advanced. Features such as wing foils for gliding/descending or shields at double strength in the front but weak at the back. Once again fairly easy to introduce to Campaign, Spartan Ops or Infinity. Imagine an AA that allowed you to utilise in real time up to 5 different configurations.
