Not sure how much further development the shields are due to go through before release.
They look like…paint or goo has been thrown on the Spartan. Doesn’t have the fluidity/electrified look from previous Halos which folds around the player and looks much more interesting. And the outline looks terrible in my opinion, looks cartoony.
That goo look also occurs when the shield depletes, as bright glowy goo around the player. The shield depletion looked much better in Halo 5 and CE Anniversary. Also why the hexagons?

Honestly I like the look since it makes more sense. If this existed in real life it most likely would have some barrier effect that would result in specific triangular shapes. Why? Because it would need to have a high amount of points of contact to keep stability and ensure maximum shielding for all areas.
I agree, especially about the outlines, but the two problems go hand in hand. It doesn’t only look really ugly and ruin immersion but it’s also super confusing when my teammate has my enemies colour on their armour and the other way around. The reason for this change was clearly to show everyone what coatings people have bought, but who even pays attention to that during gameplay anyway? If they give us back red vs blue as an option they can give back classic shield effects too. I wonder what shields in campaign will look like…

The hexagonal effect is something I could get used to, I can see why some like it, but it and the “goo” seems like yet another change for change’s sake. And the change is not a subtle change either - large hexagons creeping into your FOV and flying off the player. The way shields look in previous Halos looks great and doesn’t raise an eyebrow.
Regarding the realism argument, makes sense what you’re saying but I would argue what matters more is what makes sense in the game both visually and what the public prefer, instead of realism. But if I’m in the minority on this then so be it. What I do love is how the immediate area of the shield being hit glows and discharges off slightly, just will take some time getting used to the hexagons.

While I do prefer the player’s individual coating being visible over team colors, if this is the solution I say go back to team colors. Why not the identifier tag above the player’s head? Or maybe a subtle glow in the team’s color around the player.
The shield effects look okay for me, but not great.
I personally don’t like the new outline concept.
It just ruins the visual experience for me. All you see is a colorful outline. You don’t see any armor or coating, just the outline and that’s it.

Of course you enjoy anime.
Anyway, no. Visual clarity of the shield getting popped.
I’m just happy they changed it from the original trailer we saw. Looked like the hexagons were all over the screen in that. I can deal with that they put in the flight.
I agree, was disappointed with the shields visual fx. They said they are working on visibility of when someone is weak but I can’t imagine that would change the actual style of the shields look that much. The outlines also make it all kinda blur together too. I thought H5 looked really good in terms of shields, wonder why Infinite looks so bad in that department.

well too bad soo sad but that’s what we get so deal with it
I liked how the shields looked and that the enemy had red shields, I heard people complain that it was hard to tell if somebody’s Sheila were full or down. Usually in the previous games you see them sparkle and last I saw they only flashed one each when the shields dropped. I think I heard 343 will improve on showing shield looking down or not.
for the most part I thought it looked really cool and you screen looks “bubbled” when you activate an over-shield and I think you see those hex shapes as well.

No it isn’t. What? What is the point of asking for feedback if 343 is going to ignore it entirely?
