Spartan School: "Field Trip!"

Hey guys, Kalyx triaD here, the guy who sounds like a Halo 4 fanboy when debating in threads on this site? Well aside from writing essays on these boards about the Boltshot not being overpowered or why Halo 4 players simply ignoring common sense in-game I have another activity I tend to do when I not on here.

Actually playing the game.

So I had this idea that I’d make a thread inviting everybody who values the Spartan School series, or me as a poster, to join me in a special Spartan School gathering where we will play, chat, do some private matches, and generally be gamers.

I will be on Halo 4 all night with an open lobby and nothing is off the table (except SWAT which I hate with a passion, okay well may SWAT if people wanna get down like that - BUT ONLY IN SMALL DOSES). Of course we can talk theory and strategy as well, as a Spartan School event we are all still students and teachers of this game.

I am updating my File Share as you read this, putting up some funny or epic moments from my playtime. There may also be moments that show off some of my ideals at work, or maybe you’ll catch something that gives you more questions about Halo 4. Feel to talk about them in-lobby, over XBL messaging, or right here in this thread.

Just find me on XBL, you don’t even have to Friend Request me, and join at will. Or maybe just check out my File Share (seriously it’s going to be quite a few clips!). If you join, try to have a mic at hand!

Custom map/gametypes of mine:

CGC: A really small map and gametype that allows shotgun justice. FFA and team slayer ready.
War Land: A vehicle heavy version of Ragnarok where Mantis’ can leap and carnage is not only expected, it’s necessary. FFA only.
The Box: Another small map that’s exactly how it sounds. Ready for FFA and team slayer, as well as KotH.
Holdoff: Remake of my best Reach map (which itself was a remake of my best Halo 3 map). Currently in experimental stage due to size issues. Help me analyze it! FFA and team slayer ready.

And yes, I will have Spartan School’s next episode concerning small team Slayer this week. I will have new Ten Commandments to be discussed, retorted, and dissected for you all. See you online.

ummm what? The Boltshot is clearly OP. Its the new n00b Combo. Instead of a Green Ball its now a big -Yoink- wall that either kills you or takes your shields completely down then your a oneshot kill. Thats the problem. You obviously havn’t played a whole team that just uses active campo+boltshot and hides once they get the lead.

The blue dots don’t help as much when the whole team is hiding around each other. Your radar just gets messy then you get the boltshot. If that doesn’t kill you well then you just get the ole headshot. I don’t blame people for using it. 343 put it in there without testing it. If I cared about my k/d I would probably do the same but that playstyle is just simply too BORING/cheap for me to use. I enjoy running around and attacking.

Are you the student or teacher of your spartan school? Just saying your stats do not speak so highly of your common sense? Not saying your terrible…I am just confused as to why you think the way you do…that’s all.

“The AR is clearly OP, you obviously haven’t faced an entire team using Promethean Vision and AR. There’s nowhere to hide.”

“The Plasma Pistol is clearly OP, you obviously haven’t faced an entire team using PP locking down vehicles.”

“Vehicles are clearly OP, you obviously haven’t faced an entire team running wild with vehicles.”

“DMRs are clearly OP, you obviously haven’t faced an entire team camo camping with DMRs. You can’t move anywhere!”

Etc.

Please don’t use uncommon scenarios to make that point. I have already addressed this claim in multiple threads and I rather not bring that into the Spartan School series. The Boltshot is not OP, you think it is. Whatever, moving on.

PS: You oh so clearly missed the entire point of Spartan School. Look up the threads before making a comment, then you won’t be confused.

Oh yeah, every weapon has been accused of being OP since the game came out, it drives me nuts.

However, a team full of camo/boltshot campers can get ugly. But the boltshot is a short range weapon, a coordinated team and grenades can clean them out rather effectively, once found that is.

I was playing complex a few days back, at least two of the four opposing players were camo-boltshot hiding in the main computer room/tower. It simply flush them out with grenades (Resupply as a tactical package helps). What got me was that, at least in this game, it was not an effective tactic, but they kept using it constantly.

The boltshot drives me bonkers, don’t get me wrong, its simply a shotgun you can include in a loadout.

In regards to SPartan School and truing things in customs, I need to work on Wreckage. I suck at that map and spend most of my time lost.

Wreckage is my favorite of the DLC maps and went expecting to hate it. It actually a really good flow about it, even though it looks like a big map. You will get into action constantly, but it isn’t random. There’s lots of flank routes and choke points. I love it!

It looks like a junkyard, but you need to use the cliff area and hill area to get your sense of direction. The complex in the center is very important (moreso than that mountain, imo). Ghosts work well. I like to rock the BR/Sentry on this map.

Sounds good, I just have not played it very often. I’m not sure why but on more than one occasion I’ve man-cannoned right into the middle of the entire opposing team. Yeah, don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad map certainly, its just one I haven’t played much and have not played well on.

You wanna make sure that hill is clear before taking the man cannon, unless you have something explosive you wanna share with them.

Once a team takes control of the hill, an interference by man cannon can stall them until the rest of your team moves up.

What’s really tricky is holding down the center complex.
