I can see that 343 have tweeted about changes they wish to make but I still don’t think it’s what the actual Halo community want. We dont want to grind challenges over and over and over again, we want to be rewarded for just playing normally without having to focus onna specific task. They have made this announcement on twitter and I just think its to keep people sweet and quiet for now.
Spartan Rank
Yes we have a battle pass we work towards but we want a individual Spartan Rank, a rank that we level up enjoy seeing our levels grow. Right now, as most of you can agree, we just have a battle pass we work towards but I don’t feel like I’m achieving anything. Once that battle pass is finished, we start all over again with the next one.
Solution:
Implement a Spartan Rank which we level up, so we can actually feel like we are progressing with something, not just completing challenges.
XP for Performance:
Every single game, all I see is people trying to get thier challenges completed. Especially in objective game types, people don’t care about the win, as long as their challenges are complete. The reason is because, what do we even get for winning or killing???..Nothing…Zero…Zilch…
We dont want a game that is all about completing challenges and grinding all day, stressing out to complete them…no…just no.
Solution:
Implement XP for performance. Each kill we get, each headshot, each ninja, each spree, each capture, just the way we gain player points in game, that should be XP we are getting. So when we get an assist and it says ‘Assist 25’, that should be the XP we’re getting. Every game we complete, we dont feel like we are being rewarded for it.
Guys remember, this is not just their Halo, it’s ours too so keep speaking up and keep being vocal until they listen to what we actually want.
P.S. They might as well call the AR a Power Weapon from now on because Its totally overpowered.
Omg I finnally foudn someone witha brain. Ive been yelling all over the internet about this. We need a battle pass AND a Spartan Rank Makes it so much more fun.
I had a couple ideas. They dont have to make it too fancy so no icons or names required. Just have a standard level number 1-100 and you can prestige kinda like cod but you can infinitely prestige.
Also I was thinking that they should make the xp system like this. Xp pe Kill/Assist/Objective or Score/Medals and Games played and Additional score for games won. Make the challenges harder and more rewarding. And also Im calling it a stat tracking system. There isnt many ways to get weapon/vehicle cosmetics. Make it where you need to get X amount of Ar kills and it give = 50 xp and a red Ar skin. Something cool like that. or get X Splatter kills with the warthog give = 150xp and gold skin.
I agree with you (OP), they should bring back the old system (MCC for example). Where we had challenges, but our main source of XP was from matches (completed/performance). With commendation/awards giving bonuses and what not. If anything, if they’re set on challenges. Port the old system over, and make said challenges give like double or triple the normal amount of what we’d already get. Maybe normal bonus like we have now, but double for premium users.
There is absolutely no reason to remove a system (Exp from performance/match, and awards/commendations) that has existed for a long time. This kind of progression system they have now, doesn’t fit into the multiplayer at this point in time, as the challenges do not reflect the objectives and gameplay (Other than the ones regarding completing a match for example). This may fit into another type of game, but for something like Infinite the old system (MCC for example) is the best one we have.
I mean, they say the feedback we give is very important but they haven’t actually taken time to read what the Halo Community actually want. All that is being done is a very MINOR improvement to give us the illusion that we are being heard.
I’m such a big Halo fan that I don’t actually own any other game but Halo and its so disappointing because I just see a ‘pay to progress’ kind of game in front of me. The game play is brilliant but this Spartan Rank and XP System needs to come ASAP. Otherwise be ready to see alot of the population decreasing.
343 please don’t just do something to keep us sweet, actually listen to what we want!! Yes you may be the creators of Halo, but without us, Halo is nothing!
I believe in one of the blog posts they did about the 2nd flight they posted something about a system like that. They said this:
Positive: Customization is looking great!
Feedback: Many players want to earn per-match XP outside of Challenges
Feedback: Concerns around timed Double XP Boost efficiency
Feedback: Desire for a “career” ranking system in addition to the Battle Pass
LIVE TEAM RESPONSE
It’s good to be back, and we’re happy to hear that people were liking the added customization this flight. It wasn’t all high praise though, so let’s dive into the feedback areas.
We’re aware that there are some desired changes for a broader progression system outside of the Battle Pass. After last flight, we have adjusted our Daily Challenges to be more focused on a per match play model. The other big issue was making Double XP boosts more time-efficient in match on usage, this is something we agree with and are looking at a solution we can provide at a future date. While we explore those changes, which could be larger undertakings, we’re also looking into faster options such as ways to increase how frequently XP is given out via Challenges and potentially tying XP Boosts to matches played rather than time.
Beyond that, there’s been a large number of requests for an additional career progression system. We want this too and it’s our team’s top priority, but doing it right will take time and that may mean it won’t come as quickly as many of you would like. As we look at what our team needs to build, adding an entirely new progression system on top of everything else is a lot. Building a progression system with solid design, good implementation, top-tier UXUI presentation, thorough testing, and time for polish will take some time and we want to do it right.
While this is a ways away, please understand that outside of continuing to support the basic needs of each Season and finishing up existing work that’s already been started, building additional progression systems and improving the areas mentioned above are the Live Team’s top priorities.

Yes, we need a normal progression system, like we had before. I think they’re probably working on that, and this is just a quick fix. I wish they would come out and say that though, cause this just gets people worried that xp will rely on this, for lack of a better term, “busy work”
This is so true and so needed. I feel like doing impressive -Yoink!- is functionally pointless in this. There’s no reason to do anything more than get to the end of the game - even winning doesn’t feel like a reward.
They’re creating a reward-environment that makes middle-of-the-road and highly conservative gameplay the best winning strategy. That’s just not what Halo was ever supposed to be. It’s supposed to be wild, crazy, highly rewarding for excellent players but also great fun for newbies and casual players who can at the very least, hop in the back of a warthog, and mow people down while a more skilled driver keeps them out of harms way and brings enemies into their line of sight for a kill.
My question that I keep asking is why the -Yoink!- was it taken out in the first place? O wait I know so they could make money off the battle pass and microtransactions. They keep saying it takes time to implement this form of system??? What the -Yoink!- are they on about they have done it before. What is taking them a long time is trying to figure out how they are going to balance the free cosmetics with the paid one and make sure the free ones are not too cool so people don’t spend money.
I don’t know man… I’m just reading what I took from their blog. I can’t answer that question you’re asking only 343 can, you will have to keep a look out on their official twitter, waypoint news and forums for their response to all the feed back they have been getting.
Once we finish our weekly challenges, it will take us 20 games to to rank up in our battlepass. That’s calculated by the 50xp you get per game!! UTTERLY RIDICULOUS
I’m not defending them for some missing features, but also take into account that the game could’ve been released in an even worse state than it’s in right now if COVID didn’t stop production on the game. They were kind enough to let us play it 3 weeks earlier than expected for the 20th Anniversary. They simply could’ve just made us wait 3 more weeks to add some more features but instead they are letting us play and updating it where its necessary ready for Dec 8th release.
The game is still also in beta and it’s kind of nice they let us all test it out rather than a select few in a flight again. Problems can be fixed but they are only human too and trying to provide us with the best Halo experience as possible.
That’s true but the thing is that they are not dumb, they are a business. They split up teams and groups to get certain jobs like the 3d modeling team, the music, and sound effects team, and the UI and progression team. They are not hounding on them as a group and they had more than enough time and money to make a basic system that works. Keep in mind they have a battle pass and Progresion team and they had at least 3 years to think of and develope a decent system. I made one in a day that works better. This horrible system they made was just a sad attempt at a cash grab but its so busted and generally doesnt work people werent having it. so there you go.
