I personally don’t like the boring number ranking that 343 brought to Halo in Halo 4 and the Halo 5 beta. I think that the military ranking is alot better and fun. Going through the military rank from a recruit to a captain is a lot more awesome and exciting than just ranking up by numbers. I really hope 343 dose not stick with the Spartan ranking system that they have now. I really hate it and everyone that I have talked to about it agrees with me also. Please post and let me know what your thoughts are about Spartan Ranking or the Military Ranking that Halo Reach had.
Competitive Skill Rating-
I like this system ofor ranking it’s new and exciting there is just a couple problems I have been having with it. I feel that it is very hard to rank up. I consider myself a pretty good Halo player. I’m always MVP of my team but it seems like my team can never pick up the slack when I do win I get like +17 proformance and when I lose I get aound -20. This system makes it to hard to rank up but to easy to rank down. I like a challenge but it seems like I can’t get out of Bronze because my team can’t pick up the slack…
<div>The game placed me in the Gold division after playing 10 matches. But like you, I can’t get to a higher rank because of how they determine CSR. From what I’ve seen, it only goes up if you win, and down if you lose, and your K/D spread has no effect on it.</div>

thats because you didnt win because your team didnt win, if you win you go up, if you loose you go down, the amount by which you go up/down depends on how well you do

…Yeah, thats pretty much what I just said. But I believe that this isn’t how CSR should work. It is intended to measure the skill of an individual player, and therefore it should rise and fall with K/D. If you’re doing really well in a match, like 16 kills and 2 deaths, and your team loses because the other team keeps hunting down and killing an AFK on your team, should your CSR go down because some other guy wasn’t playing? I don’t think so.
Just made a post that stated the same. I’ve never had a negative k/d-ratio, was a lvl 50 player and quite skilled in halo 3 etc, but got silver 3 after some -Yoink- match ups, and now going down, down, down, while topfraggin all the time. This is not bragging, I’m just stating that with this ranking system, I’ll never get up to onyx or where-ever I should be. Not saying that I’m a pro, but fighting bronze and lower is a bit boring. Therefore it would be nice if they checked personal achievement as well, since then you get placed among ‘the same’ kind of players, which is more fun for everyone.

Please make the CSR based on individual performance only. That includes how you work with teammates but does not depend on their ability to work with you.
Yay, and after the above, I played 2 more games. 21-2 and 17-8, both lost big time. I’m now a bronze. Most frustrating thing ever. Why even shoot, if you see that after 2 minutes, 3 of your teammates have -5 already. Bah.
Your TEAM wins, you go up. Your TEAM loses, you go down.
You don’t get rank based on individuality. If you lost, you lost. They should not, and will not, give you credit just because you did well. Dont like losing? Get teammates or get better. Plain and simple.
Its called “Competitive Skill Rating” for a reason. You can’t truly be playing “competively” by yourself, you need a team. If you have a decent team where all of you play well and communicate well together, you will win. If you win than your “Competitive Skill Rating” will go up. As it should in my opinion.
Is the ranking system broken or something? I won 8 of the 10 qualifying matches and was placed in bronze I. Meanwhile I’m seeing people who lose more than half their games and are still in gold.

Placement matches are a bit messed up. I would think that in the full game, you will only play against other people that are also doing placement matches.

Apparently it was based on whom you beat during the qualifying stage. I.e if you were beating golds, you’d land in gold/onyx.
if you lost to golds but beat bronzes, you’d end up in silver.
Dont worry too much though, in the final game placings and standings will reset every so often.

People said it was because of your first 10 matches. It’s a qualification phase. But I tend to think the ranking system is quite broken, following my case.

That makes sense, but that should not even happen. I know it’s just a beta, but division placements would be a lot more accurate if the game actually matched you with players in similar divisions. In the case of still qualifying for a division, you should play against other people who are qualifying as much as possible.
