ive been reading up on the leveling system and commendations in halo 5, but still have many questions. can you increase your rank in campaign? are there commendations for the campaign such as multikills and sprees? or do these things only apply to multiplayer? im interested to see. if anyone knows for sure please let me know. if not i will find out in 5 days!

No, commendations and challenges will only be for multiplayer. There would be too many things to exploits if the campaign allowed EXP gain in any way.

however i wish campaign had more of an impact on the entire game experience in previous titles and hope they do something to make it happen that isnt going to be exploited
