In Halo 4 I was a huge fan of the Spartan ops and I was hoping that it would be continued in Halo 5, but it wasn’t. I’m just wondering why and are they going to be in Halo 6?
My understanding was that Reach FF, as well as H4 Spops, failed to attract the number of players required to justify the expense of development. It’s a sadness to me too, but the obvious answer would be to give WZFF the option to turn off the timer and play solo. That would take one dev about five minutes to accomplish, so not really a drain on resources. Only time will tell…

Spops was an excellent idea, but poorly executed. If it is supposed to be your own Spartan going on their own campaign, then how do you justify respawning? It’s not a simulation. The story was also so underdeveloped and bland. Palmer was repetitive and annoying, Miller was underdeveloped, and nobody cared about Majestic. And why the hell would Jul 'Mdama destroy Requiem? It is the home of his Promethean allies and is stock full of deadly Forerunner weapons that he could have used. Oh, and guess who wrote that awful story? Same person who is responsible for the biggest gaming disaster in late 2015: REDACTED
Aside from the eggheads and the constant respawning, I enjoyed the mode as downloadable DLC with nice cutscenes. But I’d rather have survival firefight.
I wish that something along those lines would be considered, whether it be a second/side campaign where I get to play as my own created character or a firefighty/horde style mode where I get to blast and defend (alongside my 3 best spartan buddies). But I can’t see it happening. Spartan Ops in Halo 4 never gained traction because it wasn’t executed all that well.
As for Firefight solo within the H5 ecosystem… that would make me sadface - the current PVE is built for 8 people, it’d be nightmare solo or with a smaller party. That’s a bummer in itself as smaller parties are easier to organise and to manage. 4 player PVE would be very welcomed.

I don’t really need to comment now, you nailed it. But I’m going to comment anyway because I want to voice my support for your opinion.

Reach FF held its own, it’s just that 343 wanted to put their own spin on it in the shape of Spartan Ops. Sadly, Spartan Ops didn’t take off and had its own unique flaws as well as not filling the PvE gap that Firefight left.
Warzone Firefight is nice but it’s a completely different ball game than regular Firefight seen in ODST and Reach.
In my ideal Halo game, we’d have Firefight and Spops. I love the idea of an episodic campaign with weekly releases and seasons. It’s like a TV show you can play! However, it would need much better writing, and it should not replace regular Firefight.
