Spartan Ops is Halo 4’s Cooperative Mode replacing Firefight mode from Halo: Reach and Halo 3: ODST. It will support up to 4 players and tie into the SPARTAN-IV Program and the Campaign of Halo 4.
The enemies that the players will face are yet to be revealed but the Covenant is believed to be an Enemy in the Campaign so it is likely they will be in the Spartan Ops.
343 Industries has confirmed that It will not be paid DLC and be included free in the game. Eventually John-117 will meet up with the UNSC Infinity and this will somehow tie into the rest of the story.
Supposedly Spartan Ops will have no end and will be introduced in weekly, free DLC’s, although it is also said that it comes in the overall Halo 4 package.

I think this is the one aspect of Halo 4 that gets me the most excited. Seems like weekly mini-campaign mission and I like the sound of that, especially if there’s no FF.
