I thought Spartan Ops was supposed to offer new content each week? The levels are basically broken of sections of the campaign and they have already been recycled within the first two weeks. Does anyone know if we can actually expect new levels? Running the same mission backwards against Covies instead of Promethean does not count as “new content” in my eyes. If Spartans Ops is just going to be be the same 5-10 levels each week I would have rather just have the CGI cutscene as a mini episode each week and not play the missions.
With the way 343 was talking it sure sounded like Spartan Ops would be something so unique that we would want to talk about it with friends each week. They even tried to pull the “Wait til next week to find out what happens” thing that popular TV shows try to pull. I still want to see the cutscene for next week but I hardly care about the actual missions.
What does everyone else think of Spartan Ops? Pretty underwhelming so far?
Agreed. The intro cinematics are interesting, but other than that, I’m already getting a little bored of it.
It’s still early though, hopefully they’ll mix things up in the next few episodes.
As the guy above said- it’s still early. Like any series/breakoff story that involves a fairly new caste of characters, the first fourth or so is a bit more boring and rudimentary as they intro characters and thematics.
From there it expands- I imagine we’ll be hooked in a couple weeks for those of us who aren’t already.
The missions as of now are captain lasky going back to clear and research the promethean tech, which reminds me of the unsc using covenant tech to develop new and better technologies. The first few weeks will probably be much of the same with more exciting content to follow, atleast that’s where I hope they take it.
Don’t get me wrong… Even though they reused the same levels I still enjoyed it. I’m just kind of hoping they actually start using new levels. If everything is pulled from campaign it’s going to be pretty disappointing. I have a feeling that their will be new levels in the future. I’m hoping they just didn’t want to force people to download DLC for the first couple episodes.
Yeah, I wasn’t too thrilled over the recycled maps and reverse order to the missions. I like the cinematic, but they make think maybe they 343 should consider making a “Skyrim” version of Spartan Ops for the next gen console separate from Halo 5. Basically a massive Halo environment to free roam in with way points to investigate and clear like a campaign slash firefight free for all.
343 this was a great idea but you guys have to mix it up a little more you know that right? it is still early so far so I’m still going to hold out some hope some new stuff later on. Come on 343 you guys can do better I know you can.
Yeah, Spartan Ops is starting to feel like Firefight’s lamer cousin. I may stick around solely for the achievements and pwetty cutscenes. But other than that…meh.
I felt this way. i was able to predict every action, like ‘press that button there [i bet i’ll get ambushed…] watch out! clear the area for the eggheads’ then ‘the eggheads activated something [i bet ill have to deactivate it] go deactivate what the eggheads activated, gthen kill those guys for the eggheads.’
and really? is all she says in stead of scientists ‘eggheads?’ its annoying.
i honestly hope every episode isnt going to be the same levels like its war games, i thought it would be like a secondary campaign since i didnt like the original one (in case you havent played it, the levels are long, time-consuming, button pressing, area clearing, nonsense, with characters that have no developed concepts whatsoever, besides chief, cortana, and the commander who is always on his ‘time of the month.’)
great graphics, fun hordes to fight off, but that is all it is, wave after wave that only appear when you ‘activate that’ or ‘disable their jammer.’

You’re hopeful that it’ll get interesting? - don’t hope too much,
It’ll be more of this rinse and repeat style gameplay for a long while - the campaign was like this too, run here, press button, do it two more times.
Unless they incorporate elements like the Oddball, Flag, Flood or whatever Objective / Vehicle scenarios they can think of into the mix to spice it up, it’ll be very, very samey
> > I agree. So far I don’t think it is a good replacement for Firefight

> And not Reach Firefight at that, ODST Firefight where it actually felt like survival and required teamwork
It’s sad that the best iteration of the Halo survival co-op mode didn’t have matchmaking.
There needs to be some sort of team work aspect to Spartan Ops. It’s really starting to turn into Halo Reach’s co-op campaign on who can get there and shoot first. Now that might not be the fault of the game and just the nature of the gamer and community. There’s no real reason so far for us to help each other or to coordinate on an objective.
It would have been interesting if all four Spartans had to shut down those pillars at once or they had to access the computers in unison to actually get them to work. Now I know most players would say “yeah right” some joker wouldn’t do it just to hang up the game, but if you added an bonus team work XP reward for working together then most would be down with that.
If they didn’t do it you could still allow the other players to rush over and hit pillar three because XXXMONKEYRUN70009XXX wanted to hop like a idiot on a crate for ten minutes.
