I don’t know why people are saying Spartan ops is just like special ops in CoD.
Spartan Ops- 4 player. Has own story, new missions every week, You play as the spartan you customize. Thats all we know now.
Special Ops- 2 player. No story just random missions, Occasional extra missions in DLC, Set character.
They seem pretty opposite to me. I think the only reason that people think its like Special ops Is because they both have Ops in it. I know people who thought Call of Duty made up the term “Special Ops” It just means special operations. Special operations are real and are usually more important than regular operations. Spartan Operations are just operations done by Spartans instead of marines or ODST’s.— Also I would like to say something about people who say 343 is just making this for money. They are adding Spartan Ops missions every week for several months FOR FREE. Also look at CoD Elite. To get full use out of it you must pay $60. Halo Waypoint is FREE. Thank you and no raging in the comments please
Spartan Ops will have some sort of story that connects the missions, but I highly doubt it will have campaign-caliber production values. Most likely it will just be a cutscene between each mission. I wouldn’t expect to see any in-game dialogue or scripted events.
In a way it will be more like a Halofied version of Spec-Ops, not an exact copy or a successor.
People only -Yoink- about spartan ops because it sounds so similar to special ops (By the way, CoD didn’t come up with the term special ops), but it is in no way similar.

Spartan-Ops is supposed to be comparable in size and scope to the Campaign, with a dedicated storyline that spans several months. It’s supposed to feature dedicated missions and maps, not rehashed missions cut from the campaign. It’s more like Portal 2’s Co-Op in my opinion.

You do not have to pay.
Spartan-Ops has a dedicated storyline. It’s not a series of rehashed missions

Out of interest, have you seen your entry on Encyclopedia Dramatica?

That is nice and all but what about replay-ability? It is going to be the same every time.
Eventually the updates will end and that is it.
That is why I like FF in Reach. You can control the enemies, difficulty, and even vs other players.
I really, REALLY hope it won’t just be little missions.
Spec Ops (the games) had the name “spec ops” before Call of Duty? nobody complained about that? in fact they used the name before Call of Duty was a thing…
and now its such a big deal when 343 uses just the name? actually not even the whole thing its just “OPS” thats it, come on guys
did everyone complain this much when Black Ops made a theater Mode?

Did you every play FireFight? It was just really boring to me. I MUCH prefer ME3 and GOW3 hordes.
Spartan Operations are side adventure/ secondary campaign.
Probably the name similarity everyone is getting hung up on and the co-operative nature of the game mode. By the way, though it may be free I expect it to be disc locked content due to the limitations of DLC on 360. Not that that’s terrible, the gradually rolled out online story chapters and episodes in Phantasy Star Universe were neat. Then again I wasn’t there for that games release and I heard the amount of locked online content for the first few months was… Extreme.
edit: then on second thought, after all the rage caused by that initial cap in Reach maybe 343i will tread carefully.
If 343 can release new Sparton Ops missions every week with similar production levels of the Campaign then that will be incredible, a first in gaming. It will be like having a new Campaign level every week, its a brilliant idea.

I suppose, that they won’t be to big, not exceeding 30 minutes.
I don’t see why they should be longer if they intend to release 5 mission every week over several months.
