I was just watching Chapter 4 of Episode 7 (The Guns of Infinity) and suddenly I felt like a light went on in my head.
Now while I am sure many of you have noticed this and maybe have even complained about this for me I just realized this.
The enemies is Spartan Ops are far more aggressive then the enemies in the Campaign. Hey maybe it is because the MC is scary haha but seriously why is that.
While there are Spartan Ops boards that do have the typical boring enemies and all the chapter I was just watching had enemies attacking straight on with no fear and some that just showed up behind the player shooting him in the back. It just seemed to be an all around better looking battle than I have seen in the campaign or at least typically.
Most aggressive enemies in the campaign are either in a vehicle of just one of those Elites that run at you with the sword. Even the Promethians run up and fall back and I never really felt pressed or surrounded as I have during Spartan Ops.
Well that is my thoughts on that. Anyone else chime in please.
The Knights love to teleport dash now, Elites will flank the poop out of you, and the sheer number of enemies is high also. Ep 7 Chap 5 co-op Legendary=O.O
Crawlers are much more aggressive as well. In Campaign they like to shoot from longer distance giving cover fire to Knights. In Spartan ops they will engage you at close quarter or flanking you from behind. I like this difference between Campaign and Spartan Ops
I agree with both of you. I was hoping it wasn’t just my imagination.
I would guess if the campaign was like this you would be screwed even on normal. Although the campaign has less enemies I would love the game to be more aggressive this way with weapon drops and Mantis drops.
Just all out war like Chapter 7.
Legendary would be impossible this way. I beat Legendary but no way if it was like Spartan Ops.
I have to say this second set of chapters is far better and different than the others. The others were more like the campaign as far as enemies I suppose but man even the Grunts are like come here little Spartan.
I only played the first 2 on Easy to feel them out. Later I will do co-op. Love how it is now on Legendary. Too bad they don’t do Co-op with skulls for some good EXP.
Spartan Ops difficulty is based on number of players. 2 players get Heroic where as 3 or 4 players get Legendary (and more completion XP). I think it used to be that 2 players got Normal and 3 got Heroic.
I don’t know if Solo Campaign Legendary is any harder than Co-op Campaign Legendary, but since Spartan Ops Legendary is 3 or 4 players they probably made the enemies harder to compensate.
Yes, I think the AI was I don’t know, Improved? Prometheans In campaign Honestly felt a little meh… while In Spartan Ops, I’m loving every single fight against them…
I wish there was a challenge mode with skulls or a limited number of lives or something. Spartan Ops is pretty sweet right now, but the fact that you can’t really lose removes some of the tension.
Nah all my SPartan Ops from last season were on Heroic no mater 3 or 4 players so who knows for sure.
As far as the crawlers, maybe it was because whether we realize it or not the boards were linear in the end. Spartan Ops can be back and forth and in places unlike the campaign. Maybe that is it.
The AI is very different. The Knights were dodging and warping all over. Haha maybe they want to show how much better the MC is by making it harder. I forget I am not the MC sometimes until I die or notice my armor.
Man I still say I hope Halo 5 can bee more like this Chapter 7.
Maybe 343 is using this as a beta of some sorts for the next campaign to study players.

Spartan Ops simply has more focused environments. There’s less to manage (no linked huge maps like in the Campaign) so they can implement teleport locations better.
Not to mention the Knights you’re referring to could be Lancers.

I’m finding the numbers in the newer chapters to be like in Campaign, which is a good thing.
The previous chapters were just enemy spam fests. They seemed to exist just for commendations. When I was really bored with Halo 4, I’d start up The Challenge, let all the enemies spawn by racing to the objectives/switches (dying multiple times along the way) and it’d be extremely aggravating to try and fight back.

Does it really scale the difficulty based on how many people you get paired up with in matchmaking?
All true. I actually never pay attention to which Knight I am fighting. I mean yes I can see the color difference and the weapon usage but it never occurs to me to think of which one it is.
No matter the case the fighting is far more fun than earlier stuff and I like it.
