Spartan op’s is almost unplayable in Multiplayer match’s because the difficulty is nearly impossible for some level’s of the average player, and still we earn less XP Than we did whenever spartan ops was on normal difficulty.
Many of the time’s ive joined spartan op’s match’s i am paired up with Idler’s who get theyre nessisary Kill’s and stand in a corner the rest of the game forcing me to either quit because of the lack of co-operation required too beat the match for everyone or suffer getting the xp i deserved from it.
either way they are rewarded the same amount of XP as me which is insane.
I can’t tolerate playing Spartan op’s anymore, Who can?
I can tolerate people like that. Because I either run them over so they never get the kills they want, or I push their afk bodies into the alien hordes.
I can stand playing SpOps. Difficulty is always legendary for me, I usually have 2 of my 3 team actually playing, and the lag is bearable.
Meehhh, don’t touch it often lately. Campaign or MM
I never play Spartan Ops matchmaking; the lag is just intolerable. I always play Solo.
Of course, I won’t be playing Spartan Ops for a long while, it looks like; the addition of forced Skulls has ruined it for me. Even when playing on Easy, it is such a pain fighting Elites and Knights with the Mythic skull on. Grunt Birthday Party is also really annoying.
I’ll come back when they turn the skulls off. Hopefully they don’t turn on any more, not ever again. The past 5 weeks have sucked big time with my favorite game mode ruined.

I encountered exactly this the other night when I tried playing so I ended up quitting out and haven’t played it since.
my tactics for that are either to go AFK with them and do something else while i wait for them to get pissed off and do the mission themselves, or quit so they don’t get XP.
or, if there is so much as 1 other guy trying, help him, then finish the mission, and after the game, avoid the AFK players, and talk down to them a bit via messages… after all, you’re allowed to, you have the high ground, you worked for the mission and you put effort in, all they showed is they know how to put a pad down…
one of my favs is: ‘if your that afraid of violence, i recommend buying a game more your age rating… like… nintendogs?’ of course as you can tell by the presence of nintendogs, its an old joke and may need a new game injected into it XD

Epic Mickey.
I definitely think idling is a huge issue in Spartan Ops. For me the difficulty is really easy and you are never really punished for dying, plus you have almost unlimited ammo. I think it gets boring after a while because the scenarios are too similar but teamwork is important.
I just wish they’d turn the skulls off. I know I posted about this before, but my girlfriend & I are waiting for that so we can finish the story of Halo 4 … mythic is far too difficult for her. Even on easy, it takes an entire AR clip and two or three elbows to take out an elite. She likes birthday grunt, though.
We played through Reach on easy but she graduated to normal for Halo Anniversary … she did extremely well in Halo 3 and actually wanted to play as the Arbiter instead of Chief. So far, her favorite campaign is Halo 4’s and she’s eager for Spartan Ops.
Anyway … just waiting to play Spartan Ops on normal, no skulls, so she can find out what happens to Halsey (she really like Halsey for some reason) … she still doesn’t know that she loses an arm (I don’t give spoilers).
They should only put on the Skulls for Spartan Ops matchmaking. If I was doing one of my Halo marathons where I play each Campaign, I wouldn’t want any distracting Skulls to be activated.
The War Games…they didn’t prepare us for this!
> The War Games…they didn’t prepare us for this!
Exactly.
It doesn’t matter how many maggots 'Mdama’s got.
I’ll crush them all.
I would have turned on Famine and Tilt instead of Mythic.
Tilt in particular makes vehicles and players more durable.
I’ve had a few troubles myself with Spartan Ops, but most of them don’t bother me all that much. I already know that the connection for players when using the “Find Game” option in the lobby sucks more than a vaccuum cleaner, so I just avoid it. Whenever I play with friends, there is always lag to some degree for at least one person in the game. I’ll usually receive a friend’s lag when transitioning from one chapter to another, and then the lag will transition to the next player. So on and so forth. If the lag is absolutely horrible, the game will sometimes muster enough sympathy and simply break the game into solo missions. Kinda sucks that we can’t play together for the remainder of the chapter, but it’s better than nothing.
As for the skulls…Eh. They don’t bother me all that much. I’ve always been a fan of watching confetti-packed Grunt heads exploded into a vivid array of colours while a mob of morbid children cheers from an unseen dimension. And there’s something about the popping sound that brings a smile to my face every time. Mythic is something I’m used to dealing with after putting up with my sadistic Firefight creation back on Reach. It would be nice if the skulls were on a toggle rather than being forced, however. It would also be nice if they added more skulls later on, but would use said toggle from the get-go rather than super-gluing them onto Episodes.
I played some games last night and I was happy when the game ended. I must have seemed like a complete idiot but the lag was really bad and I kept blowing myself up with the rocket launcher because it fired seconds after I actually pulled the trigger. It was the same with even moving in any direction whatsoever.
I know how anoying it is when people just stop playing halfway trough so I finished the game but I don’t think I’ll be playing it for a while.
I think the introduction of skulls into Spartan Ops was a pretty cool idea. However, I think it was an awful idea to implement them not only into Matchmaking, but also into Solo. If you want to show off the new skulls in Matchmaking, fine, but they should have been completely optional for solo play.
Spartan Ops is a challenge however it isn’t that bad. I completed it on Legendary Solo (mainly to avoid the lag) in a couple of weeks.
You shouldn’t be playing Spartan Ops for the xp anyway. In fact you shouldn’t really be playing the game at all if all you want to do is get xp to go towards a rather pointless rank which shows nothing more than how much a player has played. Play Spartan Ops because you enjoy. Confuses me why people are so set on ranking their SR up in this game.
Maybe 343 could change the xp system up a bit in Spartan Ops so you get xp based off how many kills/assists you get in a game. That way you don’t get people that go idle and you get matched with players who actually want to contribute to beating the mission.

-Yoinking!- yes. It’s one thing to up the difficulty for matchmaking to try to give people more of an enticing challenge but changing the design of THE ENTIRE GAME MODE just to try to appeal to playlist denizens is a terrible idea. A lot of hard work went into making the enemies we fight in SOPS fun (for both it and the campaign) and though screwing around with that balance might be good for a lark, to say “here’s something new, good luck!”, it should NEVER be thrown aside to score those novelty points (BECAUSE IT IS WHY WE PLAY THIS GAME.)
343, eh, get your -Yoinking!- act together. I, for one, am not asking that you reinvent matchmaking to try to pull it up from the depths of the XBL leaderboards. Halo 4 is what it is and no amount of tweaks is going to change some of the critical problems this game has in its replayability value (wonder why you don’t have that many people left in matchmaking? Look at that one quality of the game that most enables life after launch. You’re working with a format well over a decade old and trying to squeeze as much out of it that Bungie was able to in 2007. ON PRINCPLE its just not going to work because replaybility is lacking, so try something else.)
But anyway, for when we DO want to replay Halo 4, SOPS in particular, we shouldn’t have to face an arbitrarily worse game unless we turn on that option ourselves. If you can’t provide us with that level of control, then just DON’T DO IT.
