Spartan Ops third-person option?

Hey, personally I think we should get a 3rd person option for Spartan Ops, JUST Spartan Ops(Not MP.

Spartan Ops is supposed to come under the idea of Co-Op, of completing story-based objectives with multiple players.
You are supposed to feel like a team on a mission.
I think it’d be awesome if they gave us the option of playing in 3rd person for it.
If you’ve played a game like Global Agenda or Gears of War, you’d understand how it the experience of mission-based co-operative.

:NOTE: I know Halo is an FPS and I’m not trying to detract from that, but giving us the ‘option’ of playing in 3rd Person in a game-mode in which the experience would only be even greater and even more like a Co-operative military team of Super-soldiers, why not? So don’t come on this thread saying ‘no, Halo is first person and should remain one’, because A. 60% of the game is in 3rd person and B. I’m only suggesting it for Spartan Ops, not MatchMaking so it shouldn’t harm anyone.

Woah what the hell, sorry for the mass spelling revolution, you could barely understand it before, hope it’s okay now.

yeah…no, sorry but bad idea

> yeah…no, sorry but bad idea

I don’t see how, but may I please have a reason my friend?

No. I wouldn’t use it, and what’s the point? FPS is supposed to make you feel like the person.

mobility, FOV, lack of ADS, need for custom animations to be made since the default ones are less than enough, added poly count because of the forefront model

and so on

Don’t know what you mean by Mobility.
And FOV shouldn’t matter…it’s third person, and FOV doesn’t matter much on consoles anyway.
ADS would work as normal I’d presume but it’d be slightly zoomed out to fit the Third Person perspective.
Yeah Animations need to be made but if 343 are able to make it in a short time, then why not.

halo 4 does not have ADS, a TPS needs it which would change mobility and screw with the game play

halo is an F P S…simple as that really

Well this is Spartan Ops only I’m talking about, that should matter for Spartan Ops much less than MP and SP.
3rd person would be the best way to portray a CO-OPy, mission-type scenario where Spartans are on mission and have to fulfil the objective. Play any third person Military game or something like Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer if you want to know what I mean.

Personally I feel that first person is a better viewpoint for shooter gameplay. I get why some games use third person, but I think first person is much, much better. So, I’d rather 343 spent their development time elsewhere than implementing a third person view to Spartan Ops.

Dude your the one said ADS, hypocrite much? And ADS, zoom, call it whatever.
And if you’re going to say that ‘Halo is an FPS’ then, like I said, don’t bother commenting because that isn’t a reason. Besides Halo is like 60% in Third Person, but that’s beside the point.

Nah I feel more comfortable in the first person. It would just seem wierd in Halo unless you had a turret.

It’d be an OPTION mate, and it’s Spartan Ops only.
I don’t think it’d take a lot of time to implement too.

  1. I love Gears, one of my favourite games next to Halo, Mass effect, COD etc. However the fact that it’s in 3rd person doesn’t change a thing really. First person and third person games have a different flow to them and distinctly different mechanics, and as such Halo would be completely out of place as a third person shooter (And yes, even if it’s just Spartan ops). Spartan Ops is essentially a second campaign anyway with different characters.

  2. Have we been watching the same Halo 4 footage or do we have a different definition of third person?

no, I said ADS would be an issue. the issue is Halo 4 DOES NOT have it and a TPS needs it. But in needing and implementing it (also ADS IS NOT ZOOMING, there is a difference) there would be major issues caused by said implementation.

Okay, perhaps 60% is a bit exaggerated. 50% more like.

Third Person weird in Halo!? Are you kidding me?
A lot of the game is Third Person, every vehicle, turrets, some AA’s…

In what world does a Third Person shooter need Aim-Down Sights? Do you even KNOW what you’re talking about?

5% of the game is third person at the most. Turrets, vehicles and some AA’s (And it’s only for a split second with AA’s!). And with turrets and vehicles, you’re not even using standard weapons.

You didn’t even address my other point.

> In what world does a Third Person shooter need Aim-Down Sights? Do you even KNOW what you’re talking about?

you dumb? ADS = Aim Down Sights

you know like when you pull the LEFT trigger in gear? (not talking about the long shot zoom obviously) or you always shoot from the -Yoink- hip? You do that with the hammer burst too? and Precision weapons? ADS involves a different FOV AND speed reduction…now imagine running and gunning with a DMR when the only way to be accurate with a non zoom mode is ADS while in third person view?
