Since firefight in Co-Op pretty much laggs me all the time, will the spartan ops have solo or it will be only co-op? Any confirmation from 343i?
You can play them alone, yep.
You still need to have Gold to download the missions, though.

There is an achievement for completing a Spartan Ops chapter solo. So yes, you can play it solo.
As others have said, you can Solo it, but it’s designed for Co-Op. I will probably only Solo it for the achievement.

They said way back when they revealed Spartan Ops that it can be played solo, but it will be more difficult due to the fact that it was designed around Co-op.

To be honest with the leaps and bounds made in Coop Campaign and Firefight netcode since Halo 3, I’d say Halo 4 is likely to be entirely bearable in Coop mode and Spartan Ops. Especially when looking at Halo Anniversary (If you turn off the additional graphics filter that is) When both players are playing in classic mode, it’s a really well oiled machine. And since the game won’t have to run 2 graphics engines to play in HD, and netcode is likely going to be improved beyond that of Anniversary and Reach. I don’t think there’ll be a problem.
Anyway, I’ll be soloing the Campaign first on Legendary, then I will probably do the first Spartan Ops chapter alone, to get a feel for it, before pulling together a party of 4 friends to do the rest of it.

It totals 4 players, just like FF and Coop. And it has all the regular Campaign difficulties, from Easy to Legendary.
I just hope that there will be local co-op. It seems most games are getting rid of this feature when it was great for college. I’d personally much rather play with someone in the same room versus someone I barely even know over Xbox-live.

Splitscreen destroys Xboxs… well, not xboxs but definitely frame rates. I think that’s why. Developers are looking to create seamless experiences and FR drops piss everyone off.
Here is the thing. I don’t want to play solo spartan opps. I want to play co-op with my friends. If the lag will prevent me from having a good time, i will be forced to play it solo.
I’m going to try Spartan Ops by myself, but it seems to be centered around Co-op, so I’m not so sure. I’ll certainly do so for the achievement.
I don’t think I’m going to try and find randoms ever again. Playing Reach co-op Campaign (through Matchmaking search), back when the game first came out, was horrible. I never knew people could take killing things in Campaign so seriously.
Well, I’m just going to have to pull together friends I actually talk to and play it with them. First, I have to get my friend off of that damn Call of Duty that’s going to be coming out -_-

There are work arounds that many smart developers use. One is lowering the quality of things like lighting and particle effects, the lower quality is harder to notice because of the smaller screen size. I’d rather have lower quality than no splitscreen at all.
