Spartan Ops Solo, Legendary, No Deaths

They say Spartan Ops is designed for 2-4 players with infinite respawns. Too easy for me I’m afraid. So I’ve done all 50 missions on my own, on Legendary, with the self-enforced rule of having no deaths.

All the chapters are now available to watch. Use the links below to find the ones you’re interested in. Has anyone else done this?

On average, each mission took me 15:58 and I got 111 kills.
A total of 13 hours, 18 minutes and 2 seconds with 5,539 kills!

The Waypoint stats are all linked in the descriptions. Here are my videos.

Very nice! I might have to try this at some point.

Very Nice job Spartan.

I have done them all Solo on Legendary too - but not without some deaths. The best I have done is Solo Normal with no deaths (for all of them).

Some of those missions are insane, especially with the the Incinerator Canon carrying Knights that spawn right behind you or the Rod Cannon / Sword bearing Golden Elites stepping out from cover and kicking your butt.

You need your own Halo theme music every time you walk into a room. I am impressed, well done mate.

I’m currently working on beating all levels on normal without any kill (I’m playing it co-op otherwise it would be impossible). Should look funny in the service record then.

Maybe it’s possible on easy to play pacifist solo on all levels, who knows.

Solo Legendary SpOps without any death sounds like a good challenge. I might try it after Campaign LASO. Thanks for the idea

Very admirable, but how do you tolerate the repetitiveness, RC?

> You need your own Halo theme music every time you walk into a room. I am impressed, well done mate.

Also, this.

What repetitiveness?

I should attempt this sometime.
I don’t have a capture card however.

I like to do solo heroic no deaths for fun. Legendary… I should try and do that. Thing is, how could I show if I don’t have a capture card?

I plan on doing that eventually. Should be a great challenge. I want to commentate me doing them, but I’m still trying to figure out how to set that up

Congrats RC on completing that challenge though (or rather, close to completing it)! Very well done!

Great stuff RC.

I enjoy the solo SO chapters. Have completed about 45 off them on solo legendary, but all with far too many deaths to be taken seriously.

Have got my average death ratio down to within the 10 - 20 deaths range more recently as oppose to the 30 deaths+ though when I first started.

1 no death completion. Land Grab Ep1 Chap 1 on Normal.

There is one chapter in I think Episode 5 with the multitude of Knights etc. You need to defend the area in order to avoid failing the mission. That was a challenge
on Co Op , never mind solo !

I am finding, that like the main Campaign replaying certain missions brings a familiarity & in some cases a marked improvement in playing.

Nice job and very impressive.

Awesome RC! When I read the title without looking at the username I thought this was -Yoink- for sure.

Will be very interested to check these out when I’m home later.

RC, how does this compare to SSLASO?

> What repetitiveness?

Campaign core:

-most weapons are viable
-ammo is limited, encouraging the use of other guns
-enemy variety
-checkpoints, replay value increased to the max, encourages different approach to encounters
-armor ability pickups = more options

Spartan Ops core:

-DMR
-plasma pistol
-infinite ammo crates
-fending off dozens of Elites at once
-infinite respawns (albeit eliminated in this challenge), replay value is diminished cuz you don’t usually bother memorizing enemy spawns or how to beat a tough encounter
-choose any armor ability you want, and with no deaths, you’re stuck with that unless you come across a Zealot or Knight Lancer/Commander

Campaign delivers a solid, consistent experience with plenty of play styles to pick from. Spartan Ops is extremely chaotic unless you maintain a campy play style.

Unfriggingbelievable! Up until now I’ve deemed it impossible to do SpOps solo on legendary, at least without dying. Heck, there are mission I can’t do solo on heroic, most notably those where you have to protect mission objectives from being killed/destroyed like in 5:1 “Spartan Thorne”.

Again, unfriggingbelievable! =)

> Very admirable, but how do you tolerate the repetitiveness, RC?

I took it in chunks when I had the will. Also getting closer to the end I became more motivated to finish and found crossing them off on my list quite satisfying.

Honestly though, apart from for just a quick laugh with friends on Heroic, Spops is actually best when you do it No Deaths IMO.

Lol.

Online stats for Spops are good enough to prove this.

E.g. 6:1-Escape Plan. It shows whether or not you reached the end, how many deaths, number of players, difficulty. And since there are no saves there is no funny business with saving and quitting.

5:1-Spartan Miller on The Gate? Actually, that one is kind of a joke

> RC, how does this compare to SSLASO?

Much easier. But way more fighting and the sheer scale is ridiculous. My Mythic runs are less than 3 hours total. This is over 13 hours!

I think we can’t thank you enough times. If you ever visit here (Hungary) I’m gonna buy you an ice cream.

Not wanting to nag, but where’s the rest of the videos?

Being released one a day onto my channel. If you were subscribed you’d know this already :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, Episode 6: Scattered is now fully online.

Episode 7 is coming online this weekend and early next week. Then filling in the remaining gaps on Episode 8 and 9 for the rest of the week, and then I’ll be done!

Any chance you’re gonna revisit the Campaign someday? I honestly think Dawn LASO could be done within 10 minutes.

Maybe. But I’ve got a lot of other stuff I want to do and there doesn’t seem to be much interest in LASO Halo 4 in general. Despite the emblem.

I might not rely on subscriptions anymore, but I’m still watching your vids when I can.

Nowise’s run put my Reclaimer attempt to a halt (but I know some secrets that could strike that time), but there’s still a bunch of kamikaze opportunities on other levels.
